Town: Okehampton is a bustling market town on the outskirts of Dartmoor National Park, among the moor's highest and most dramatic peaks, such as Yes Tor, which climbs to over 2000 feet. Small farming settlements nestle amidst woods and fields with plenty of softly running rivers to the north of Okehampton in the magnificent undulating Devon hills. The fantastic Roadford Reservoir provides a wide range of watersports and fishing options. Okehampton is home to a prominent mediaeval castle overlooking a wooded river valley, the Museum of Dartmoor Life (where Tourist Information is available), and Okehampton train station, which has been restored to its 1950s glory: The Dartmoor Line now runs a service between Okehampton and Exeter seven days a week. The town also offers breathtaking views of Dartmoor, as well as access to wonderful hikes and Simmons Park, which includes a children's adventure playground.
