Magnificent stay!
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful three weeks at Foinaven, and had a couple of friends from home visit for a week during our stay. We flew in and out of Inverness and rented a car for a reasonable price so that we could take day trips here and there (we really didn’t need it much in Ullapool, except for larger grocery runs). The house has BEAUTIFUL views from every room and a lot of space. The kitchen and eating space is expansive and fully equipped. Everything was incredibly clean and the location is only a 10 minute walk into town on the sidewalk. Bring your raincoat for the walk; can be sunny when you walk out the door and raining by the time you get to town, but that’s Scotland! Mairi was very attentive and responsive and we appreciated the nice bedding which was refreshed for us weekly. We also loved that each bedroom had a vanity/desk and hairdryer, which made getting ready in the morning (and working remotely) very easy and comfortable. Highly recommend a stay!

Cosy in Ullapool
Excellent property - lovely spacious house - beautifully appointed - quality crockery and kitchen appliances. Beds so comfortable and bed linens luxurious. Gorgeous kitchen and lounge. Fabulous location at edge of village - 5 minute drive - 15 minutes walk. Fantastic views of the loch and village Weather was not particularly kind to us, but it was a delight sitting cosy and warm in the house watching the rain drift along the loch - closely followed by some blue skies - and the next batch of rain !! Ullapool is a beautiful village to wander round- lots of lovely houses and interesting shops. Further afield- make sure you have a pie (or 2) from the Lochinver larder - best pies ever. Also Inverewe gardens were beautiful, and the Bridge cafe at Poolewe has some lovely artwork, in addition to great coffee, delicious cakes and friendly service. Fantastic views of the surrounding mountains on the drives to both those areas. Corrieshalloch gorge is another great must see !! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this superb house - cannot recommend highly enough.

Along with my husband, we live across the loch in Loggie where we run a croft. A small farm unique to Scotland. Happy to welcome you to the croft if your are interested in the history of crofting and the role it plays in the vitality & rural economy of the Highlands & Islands of Scotland.

Why they chose this property

Foinaven built by my father in law, Duncan in the 1980's. We inherited the property in 2019 when we carried out extensive renovations. The large garden was hewn from a rocky hillside making one appreciate the amount of hard work which went in to creating this spectacular garden which creates an impressive entry to Ullapool.

What makes this property unique

Foinaven has a lovely relaxing feel. Even when the weather is not so good, the ever changing light is mesmerising. Good weather brings the opportunity to enjoy and relax in the garden. Ideal location to explore our beautiful countryside, maybe take a day trip to the Western Isles on the ferry which departs for Stornoway twice a day.
