Leofric Lodge is a delightful, light, airy and spacious two bedroom holiday home on the edge of the pretty village of Bampton. A private courtyard garden with a seating area greets you by the front door. Step through and you’ll be amazed with the space this property offers. With a King size bedroom on the ground floor with a bathroom opposite, a well equipped kitchen diner which flows into the modern living room, complete with comfy and funky chairs and sofa. The patio doors open to a private terrace overlooking the owners garden where you can sit with your morning coffee and paper contemplating where to visit for the day. Upstairs, there is a twin room and an additional bathroom with freestanding bath and bespoke sink. This is an ideal staycation for couples, small families and friends looking to explore the area. A short walk into the village and you can believe you are in the set of Downton Abbey where some scenes were filmed, you can visit the gift shop for some memorabilia.
The village famously boasts three Morris dancing teams which can be seen during the summer, their main event taking place on the Spring Bank Holiday weekend where you can also enjoy other traditional events including the great original annual shirt race, May garlands and the Flower Festival. From Bampton you can easily reach the River Thames just 2½ miles away and with footpath walks and cycling available. If you want to leave the car, you can catch the bus from just outside the property to Witney, which boasts a larger range of shops and onto Oxford, or use one of the park and ride services into the Historic University City of Oxford where you can explore the historic buildings, go punting on the river, eat and shop in the many independent and high street cafés, restaurants and shops. You are also a stones throw from the Cotswolds with Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Chipping Norton within half an hour’s drive. Carp and trout fishing is available just 8 miles away. If it’s shopping you’re after, you can take a trip to Swindon or Bicester where you will find many bargains at the outlet shopping villages. For nature lovers, the Chimney Meadow Nature Reserve is located just over 2 miles away, where you will discover many different species of birds. There is a bus stop 50 meters from the property.
