About this property

Dog friendly, modern cottage in a quiet Norfolk village.

This modern, comfortable and very dog friendly cottage is in the friendly and quiet village of Trunch, between the coast and the Norfolk Broads.  A lot of thought has gone into the interior and the comfort it offers dogs and their owners!  There are many thoughtful touches and the welcome pack is exceptional for dogs and humans!

Easy, open plan living space, underfloor heating and textured slate floor make it easy for dogs.
The surrounding countryside provides plenty of easy walking - just start your walk at the end of the road
Lots to see and visit in the area - head up the coast to Cromer and Sheringham or the Norfolk Broads for a dog friendly day boat hire.
Plenty of choices for places to eat in the area - all dog friendly.
The owners are real dog lovers and are happy for any number of dogs to holiday here - for free!

The front door leads straight into the hallway with hanging space and a small bookcase.  There is a fixed gate at  the bottom of the stairs. The hallway has a textured slate floor with underfloor heating.  Just inside the door is the downstairs toilet/cloakroom.

Open plan living room with dining area
There is slate flooring throughout with underfloor heating.  Two comfy leather sofas, flat screen tv with Freeview and DVD player. Enjoy the small and efficient woodburning stove to cosy up to on those winter evenings and a wooden dining table that easily seats 4.

Kitchen
Open plan kitchen just off the dining area, fully fitted with electric oven, gas hob, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, condenser dryer and plenty of well planned cupboard space. From here there are French doors opening out onto the garden.  These have dog pawprint motifs on to avoid any accidents. Stairs lead from the hallway up to.....

Bedroom 1
Twin beds with pocket sprung mattresses with views over the back garden. Flat screen TV with built in DVD player. Wardrobe storage space, side tables and lamps.

Bedroom 2
King bed with pocket sprung mattress, wardrobe and chest of drawers, side tables and lamps. TV with built in DVD player also. View out over the front of house into quiet lane.

Bathroom
Modern with shower over bath and fixed shower screen, bath/shower handrail,  heated towel rail, toilet and sink.

Garage
Dog crates are stored in here for guest use if you need them as well as wipe clean dog beds.  There is an additional fridge and freezer which are switched off but there for guest use - useful if you feed raw.  Barbecue is in here too with a bucket of sand (hopefully you won't need it!)  The grooming kit is stored in here too for your use.

There is a range of items useful for any holiday such as cool box, picnic basket and blankets, fold up camp chairs and a couple of sun loungers.

Great short break
We were delighted to find everything as described with far more dog equipment than we would need. Our greyhound loved the garden which, although small, allowed him to have a run around. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen provided all we needed for self catering, although we ate out mostly. The hamper of food for us and our dog was generous and very welcome. The cottage is in a lovely position in Trunch and we easily found good walks nearby. I haven’t a bad thing to say about the accommodation and would happily stay there again.

An idyllic week
Recently returned from a wonderful week at Farthing Cottage, the cottage was ideal, peaceful village location, extremely dog friendly, especially the enclosed garden. The interior was tastefully decorated with an extremely well equipped kitchen and accessories/equipment in the garage for excursions and enjoyment in the garden. The hosts had kindly left provisions and special touches for our anniversary. Plenty of parking outside the house. Couldn’t recommend more highly, it made our first visit to Norfolk so comfortable and memorable.

Great dog friendly accommodation
We loved our stay- with three spaniels it is difficult to find a truly dog friendly place to stay where the dogs are as happy as the humans! Great walks, near the beach and everything you and your pooches need. Host was very accommodating by letting us in early

Farthing Cottage
This has got to be the best dog friendly cottage that we have stayed in the welcome package was exceptional. The cottage was clean fresh and did not smell of dogs. The quality of the interior was of a higher standard than you would usually expect from a cottage which hosts dogs. There are plenty of beaches within driving distance, particularly enjoyed overstrand and happisburgh which were less crowded. As mentioned on the website there are plenty of places to eat that allow dogs within driving distance. Now for the negative side, I know that this is out of the control of Caroline and ERC but the website needs updating as whilst we were staying the Crown pub had closed its doors and there is no shop in the village so a car would be essential unless you are extremely fit, which we are not. I believe there is a social club but whether they allow dogs or holiday makers I am unsure.

Lovely cottage but no amenities
Cottage is fantastic, welcome pack was a very appreciated and generous touch. Everything a dog needs is on hand. Beds are amazingly comfy. The only drawback is that the info needs updating as the local pub is closing and was only open for one night of our stay and the advertised village shop has closed.. There is nothing else in walking distance.

Lovely cottage - great stay
Cottage very clean. Fab welcome pack. They thought of nearly everything. Only thing lacking is a poo bin for doggie doo. Perhaps locate one in garden and then guests could empty on last day of their stay. Would definitely recommend and return.

Good base to explore the area
We had a lovely week in Trunch which is a good base to explore the surrounding area. It’s somewhere we will be revisiting. Farthing cottage was comfortable and met the majority of our needs for our stay. If we had one criticism, the garden needed a bit of attention.

Return Visit
This was our second stay at Farthing Cottage and we enjoyed it just as much as the first one. Very comfy bed and sofa. Well equipped for both humans and dogs and very secure garden. Well located for beaches and inland walks as well as The Crown pub which was only a short walk away. The only thing missing is a local shop if you needed last minute supplies.

Our week in Farthing Cottage
We had a lovely relaxing week in Farthing Cottage. The welcome pack for us humans (kettle crisps, oat cakes, cookies, sausages, bacon, eggs, bread, butter and Apple juice and handmade dog biscuits etc for the dogs was great. The Cottage provided everything we needed for our 6 dogs, and us too. Great local walks, and the local pub only 5 minutes walk away from the cottage, who are dog friendly. Highly recommended

Magic short break which exceeded expections
It's all about the dogs for us so we were thrilled to have everything we ended and more from the second we walked through the door at Farthing Cottage. The garden is fabulous for any dog - the closeboard fencing means there's nothing getting in or out which means a very relaxing experience for all of us! The facilities are great - the large washer and dryer is a huge bonus for cleaning up after lengthy beach walks!

A-Maze-Ing !!!
I took a short midweek break in Farthing cottage and I cannot recommend both the cottage and the service from ERC highly enough. From start to finish ERC were friendly, helpful, professional and informative with useful email reminders and lots of local useful information. The location in Trunch is perfect, a beautiful peaceful village with very friendly locals and multiple dog walks from the doorstep. Having 5 dogs it's always difficult to find properties that allow multi dog families but this cottage is perfect. It's cosy but there was ample space for my pack to spread out and the underfloor heating kept them warm and dry. There is everything you can imagine you need for your dog from buggies to grooming kits to towels and throws included. I thought the collar tags were a fantastic idea, such amazing well thought out touches and the goody bag wasso sweet. It is just as fabulous for Humans too, there was everything you could possibly need to enjoy a home from home experience and the welcome basket was fantastic and unexpected with such thoughtful and generous content. I will 110%be booking to stay here again, AMAZING!!!!!

Lovely stay!
We had a lovely stay at Farthing cottage with our two dogs. Amazing welcome pack on arrival and the garage has so many dog towels, throws, bowls, crates etc all you could ask for. Brilliant location quick drive to Mundesley Beach and a short walk to the local pub. The house was clean and comfy. Gorgeous log burner too! Highly recommend.

Farthing cottage was a lovely cosy cottage
The cottage was warm and welcoming, plenty of room and well stocked. The layout was perfect for humans and dogs alike. We loved the welcome pack for both humans and dogs. Location was great with walks from the house and a very short stroll to the Crown pub that served yummy food and was super dog friendly too. We tried several of the suggested cafes in the welcome pack and found everyone to be super friendly: This was our second visit to an erc property and will definitely return

Wet and Windy Week ....
Our third stay at Farthing Cottage in Trunch with our two Leonbergers and the added delights of Storm Ciaran. Despite the wet and windy weather we had an excellent week - beaches were largely deserted and the waves spectacular. Cottage excellent as always.

Where to begin! What a totally dog savvy cottage.. everything the dogs needed & more.. bowls, beds, buggy’s, beds.. awesome The kitchen had everything you needed as well.. for me, it was a cottage with a bed I could sleep in, I have a degenerative spine.. holiday cottage are a gamble, I’ve come away from some stays worse than when I arrived, not here though.. came away rested.. have booker the cabin for next year as I struggled with the stairs… farthing cottage was just the tonic.. East Ruston cottage were brilliant in communication & even have a facebook group… thank you
