Canopache (Wampanoag Indian word for 'place of peace')

Fantastic 2600 square foot home, completed in October of 2003. You can hear the sound of the surf from this upside down house on 3 acres with cathedral ceilings, tons of sunlight and sweeping ocean views. Warm, light, open, airy and peaceful describe this inviting getaway.

Top floor has an open floor plan, fireplace and cathedral ceilings in the living room and dining room, master suite with cathedral ceiling and balcony, and kitchen which has Corian counters, maple butcher block island with Italian glass pendants. Living room opens up to a large deck with 180 degree ocean views. First floor has a large entryway, 3 bedrooms, den with a daybed and terrace doors that open to the second deck.

Outdoors there is a large private yard with hydrangeas, beach roses, stone walls and walkways, wild flowers and a large yard with a great outdoor shower. It is a short walk to the ocean and 6 miles to town.

The house is fully equipped for your vacation needs. Fully furnished with nice touches and extensive landscaping. Amenities include DVD library with over 200 selections, 32 inch HD TV, all cable channels, DVR capabilities on 2 televisions, tons of books, puzzles, games, free long distance, hammock on large private lawn, 6 burner stainless steel Weber gas grill, a fully equipped kitchen with an array of pots and pans, attractive dishes and serving pieces, Cuisinart, wok, cookbooks, etc.

Great Stay in Lovely Location

Our stay on Nantucket was great! Marcie was lovely to work with and allowed us early and late check in since the home wasn't rented the day leading up or after our stay. This was critical because we were traveling with a newborn and 3 dogs! The house had all the basics and the yard was perfect for the dogs. Great view of the surrounding houses and ocean in the distance. It is walking distance to a great beach and park and drivable to town and surrounding areas. We definitely will rent again.

Wonderful Stay

Overall we had a great time with our group of 4 couples and young children. It is off the beaten path but a close walk to beach w/ playground for the kids. A very accurate listing, clean house, beautiful views and friendly and timely communication. Would definitely stay again. Thank you!

October Getaway

Loved this house and its great views and proximity to the water. We took the car ferry over knowing that with the location, we would need transportation while on island. Just a quick 20 minute trip to town and services available without going into town as well. Restaurant Week was a highlight, so cooking was not an issue but the kitchen was well-equipted. One of the most comprehensive guest information books provided by the owners. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful, large, sunny upside down house with all the amenities you could think of. Perfectly stocked kitchen. Beautiful views from the upper deck. Three acre surrounding property gives a sense of privacy. Immaculately clean, beach chairs, beach towels, books, video's, games galore in case of a rainy day. Great for large families or a couple having guests, as we were. Beautiful welcome basket, owner very responsive and a pleasure to deal with.

Beautiful peaceful everything you need home!

Perfect home with beautiful sunrises through the master window and perfect sunsets from the upper deck! Marcie has made certain this home is equipped for any occasion. From the welcoming emails the day before to the day after and all preparation in between the owner kept us informed and made us feel taken care of and welcome. The beautiful quiet Tom Nevers beach is a 10 minute easy walk with seals playing in the surf. The yard is perfect for dogs and kids and the outdoor shower amazing! We hope to make this our home away from home!

Dream House

This home is so welcoming, comfortable, and immaculate. It had everything we needed and more, from the beautiful welcome basket, to the expansive views, every detail was perfect. Our lovely host made sure we were comfortable, and was so easy to work with. We took our adult children to celebrate their college graduations, and all ten of us felt well accommodated. Can't wait to go back!!

We just came off island after two weeks at Canopache. Part of me hesitates to write this review for fear of competition for this wonderful home. However, given how great our experience was, the review is truly warranted. After spending over 20 summers and falls in Nantucket, this was our first time in this home. The experience could not have been better. With the house set back from the road and neighbors but still with great views of the ocean, it is expansive yet homey and quiet yet with tons of room to play. The interior had everything we needed with a great kitchen for those of us who enjoy cooking even while on holiday. The home even offered an office space for the dreaded days when we had to put a few hours of work in. I can't say enough about this home or about the homeowner who was immediately responsive and accommodating. Truly a great find!

Creating Lasting Memories for Young and Old

Our family vacation could not have been more perfect. Sharing a week on Nantucket with our family was the first item on my "bucket list". The house easily accommodated the ten of us and all of our many needs (laundry, showers, dishwashing) so effortlessly. There was ample space and comfort for all. The beach was a huge draw, and we were there every day walking the beach, jumping in the waves, and playing in the sand. The fact that the playground was so close was "icing on the cake". Some of us rode our bikes, while others enjoyed the short walk. We all loved the beautiful yard and the many decks for conversation and for dining. The house was very clean, well stocked with towels, linens, dinnerware, cookware, and spices and condiments left from previous guests. This was particularly thoughtful, as it saved us from spending our precious time in the grocery store. Each and every one of us found Canopache (place of peace) exactly that. It was sad to leave, but we now have incredible memories of our amazing family vacation on Nantucket.

Exceptional island getaway

We have been annual guests at Canopache, it truly is a "place of peace." The location is ideal, close to Town but extremely quiet and private. The grounds are lovely, lots of grassy area for kids to play, and the views from the outside decks are spectacular. The house is light and airy, well stocked with kitchenware, bath and beach towels, beach chairs - everything to make a vacation rental convenient and relaxing. The beaches of Tom Nevers are close by and less crowded than other beaches of Nantucket. Both the home owner and their on-island caretaker are quick to respond to any question or concern. We would highly recommend a vacation stay at this property.

"OUR" nantucket house

We've been staying at this same place for 5 years now and we love it. My children call it OUR nantucket house and that's exactly how it feels when you are there. The house is perfect and immaculate. Marcie is a very particular homeowner and her home is beautiful as a result. The grounds are great. Our extended family joins us each year and the dogs get to run and play safely in the yard, the kids chase bunnies all over the yard, and we enjoy the views from the top deck daily. The house is well set up with 1 BR upstairs and 3 full bedrooms downstairs along with an office with a day bed. the kitchen is great and fully stocked with everything you might need to cook an elaborate meal or just put something on the grill for a quick bite. My only hesitation in writing this review is that I'll face increased competition for 'OUR' nantucket home in the future! in all seriousness. You'll love it!!!!
