About this property

Cosy rural cottage hideaway on historic Crinan Canal

Karibu Cottage is a cosy, modern cottage snuggled in a wooded corner just set back from the beautiful Crinan Canal. The house is toasty warm and very quiet so if you’re looking for peace and quiet with a stunning outlook and a good night’s sleep, this cottage will not disappoint.
The kitchen is fully equipped to satisfy the microwave re-heater or the adventurous chef and there is plenty of room in the lounge/diner to entertain or enjoy family meals. The ground floor bathroom with shower unit and basin also has a heated rail for warming your towels. Both bedrooms have comfortable beds, one kingsize and one double and we use only 100% cotton linens. There is plenty of storage in both bedrooms including wardrobes and we have thick curtains at the windows to ensure that you get a peaceful nights’ rest during our long summer days and short nights. From your bedroom windows you will see cows in the fields and boats on the canal. Not a bad view for first thing in the morning.
Enjoy your morning tea or coffee in the sunny front garden and relax in the afternoon sun in the rear woodland garden watching the wildlife and listening to the incredible array of birds that visit. We have squishy, comfy cushions for the garden chairs.
On your doorstep is a network of stunning walks and cycles to some of Scotlands most breathtaking scenery and historic sites. You will find plenty of information in our welcome pack in the cottage about places to visit locally and further afield, local amenities and services as well as suggestions for places to dine out. There are plenty of options for excellent lunches and pub dinners. PLEASE NOTE. The Cairnbaan Hotel is currently under restoration and is currently closed.

Great cottage and location
This is a fab cottage, plenty of space and well equipped, just about everything you'll need. Communication from the owner was very good and helpful and we had no problems while we were there. The location is really good, quiet location but not too far from a main road, it's easy to park and access the cottage. The canal was close by so there are plenty of walks and places to explore further afield. The only downside we found was that the cottage wasn't very warm and cosy, we were there in July and yet fount it quite chilly of an evening. The heating is adjusted so the temperature can't be increased Lovely place to stay but wouldn't like to be there when it wasn't summer.

Peaceful
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The property was very clean, tidy, tastefully decorated and well equipped. We’re regular visitors to Scotland and would recommend this property. It’s well situated with some lovely walks along the canal. Inveraray is a short distance away. There are a few nice shops and cafe to visit there and of course the castle. We saw the red squirrel, which was such a treat and the birds that come to feed are plentiful. We would definitely recommend this property. Ideal for some down time.

Very nice house
My son and I really liked the house in Cairnbaan. It is very central for visiting Argyll and the surrounding islands by ferry. Jane contacted us in a very pleasant way and asked how we were. The space in the house is very good. Bath and shower are easy to use. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are provided. A basic equipment in the kitchen is available. The WiFi works flawlessly throughout the house. The house is very quietly located near the picturesque Crinan Canal. There are enough parking spaces directly in front of the house.
