About this property

Coquelicot-Luxury accommodation with heated pool & A/C in former vigneron estate

La Maison Des Vignes (The House of Vines) sits in the heart of the lovely village of Tourouzelle, in the sunny Occitanie area of the South of France midway between the beaches of the Mediterranean and the medieval city of Carcassonne.

Situated in the Minervois and bordering the Corbiere wine regions, this former vigneron estate dates back to the 1600s and is built in the traditional stone typical of the region.

The architect-designed, renovated barn conversions have created 3 spacious gites (with Air Conditioning) which have all the character of the old stone walls, high ceilings and original wooden beams, combined with all the comforts and mod cons that will make your stay here all the more pleasurable.

Gite Coquelicot sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms and has 2 well-equipped bathrooms and a private terrace with gas barbeque. There is also a heated swimming pool in the landscaped, walled gardens.

Whether you wish to soak up the sunshine by the pool or the beach, enjoy the fabulous food and wine of the area, play golf, cycle or walk, you are sure to discover your joie de vivre at La Maison Des Vignes.

Please contact us for further details, including our 3D tour of the pool and gites

Access to the gite is via stairs to the large terrace that overlooks the pool & walled gardens. The terrace is set up for outdoor dining & has a Weber gas BBQ.

From the terrace you enter the spacious lounge, dining & kitchen area which has wooden floors, a high vaulted ceiling with exposed beams. There is a comfortable sofa and seating area, an indoor dining area and a fully equipped kitchen.

Bedroom 1 has a comfortable king-size bed, dressing table & wardrobe, wooden floors and large full-length windows and a large en-suite bathroom.

The mezzanine level has a large galleried landing, which overlooks the living area with a sofa.

Bedroom 2 is also on the mezzanine level and has a high sloping ceiling with exposed beams, a king-size bed (the room can be made up with 2 single beds), table d’appoint and wardrobe. There is also an adjacent shower room with sink and WC.

Great property in good location for lots of sightseeing

Brilliant property, well laid out with excellent kitchen amenities. Property is spacious and good for enjoying dinners together both inside and out. Easy access to the pool with child-proof gate, so safe for children. Good location as we explored a huge area, fitting in lots of sightseeing, all within easy drive of property. Would certainly stay again.

Traumferien

We had a wonderful two weeks in Tourouzelle, the accommodations are beautiful and come with lots of convenient extras. The pool is shared with 2 other parties, but there is plenty of space. The hosts are wonderful and caring, they help with any questions you may have and have many very useful suggestions for trips/restaurants etc. You feel truly looked after. Thanks very much Jonathan and Suzanna for making this holiday memorable.

Country Living in Tourouzelle

Visited La Maison Des Vignes with a group of friends, ages ranging from 13 to *ahem* older...We booked all three gites for a week's holiday and had a really lovely time. Jonathan and Suzanna looked after us very well - with spotless communal spaces and well appointed accommodation. The pool area is perfect for lazy relaxation, and as a fair skinned Brit, I very much appreciated the cool and shady "outdoor room". A profusion of basil and other scented plants in the garden is a nice touch, and there are plenty of umbrellas, loungers and sofas to sit on. The pool itself is gently heated and a good size for the space. It worked well for impromptu games of volley ball as well as more sedate laps. The accommodation is comfortable and well thought out - plenty of books, cushions, lamps, seating etc. Towels for bathrooms & poolside are provided, along with the thoughtful touch of bathrobes. Only quibble would be a plea for a straight bladed knife that could be sharpened, and perhaps the addition of one large oven dish (as someone who likes to cook!). Otherwise the kitchen is well equipped with coffee machine, toaster, kettle, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine etc. Location is excellent - short drive to various places of interest such as Narbonne, Carcassonne, Olonzac, and Minervois. Local markets provide great produce, Les Halles at Narbonne being a particularly good one to visit. There is also a local shop literally on the doorstep, which can provide you with fresh bread and basics as well as a good cup of coffee. Everyone in the village was friendly and welcoming. Would happily recommend this as place for friends and large families to rent outright but the singular gites would also work well for smaller groups - each has its own private outdoor space to enjoy as well as the communal pool area. Jonathan and Suzanne have put a lot of thought and care into this place. Really enjoyed my visit.

Tranquility in Tourouzelle

Coquelicot was our tranquil home for a week & as two adults, a teenager & a child, we were very comfortable there. It was spotlessly clean and full of everything we needed. The beds were comfy & there was plenty of storage. Our balcony overlooked the beautiful & very well-tended walled pool area and we enjoyed many evening BBQs there with the swallows swooping overhead. The 3 properties were well spaced out & the overall space cleverly designed, so although full, it never felt it. Jonathan and Susannah were prefect hosts - welcoming & there if you needed them, discrete if you didn't. On arrival night they treated us to drinks & canapés (home-made!) before inviting us to join them at Tourouzelle's Bastille night celebrations. It was great fun & an introduction to the village & it's characters which we carried through to the last night when we had a fabulous dinner with the mayor (in his dining-room!) Tourouzelle is well located for visiting the coast, some of France's major cities, umpteen vineyards, the medieval ramparts of Carcassonne & the Canal du Midi. (Try the electric boats for an hour is you have small children.) It is a stunning area & there is so much to do here for families and couples alike, that I recommend two weeks rather than one!

Relaxing Stay

This was our second visit to Maison les Vignes. It is a very comfortable gite in a nice very french village. The location is good for the beach and also the lovely surrounding villages and National Park. Friendly owners who can give help with local wine restaurants etc. A very enjoyable welcome evening is provided. The gite is very well equipped especially if you fly. Very nice pool area My one tiny comment was the gite could have been cleaner, all the important areas sinks toilets kitchen were clean some other parts needed a bit of a better clean. Don't go to the beach every day though the surrounding hills and villages are really beautiful. We will visit again.

France at its finest

Following the recommendation of friends, we first went to La Maison des Vignes in 2007, and we have been back four times now - so maybe that says it all. The owners, Suzanna and Jonathan, who live on site, are always warm, welcoming and a mine of useful information about the area and in particular aspects that as a visitor one might not get to know about... dinner cooked by the Mayor of Tourouzelle in his home, local peaches from a house tucked away in the village, lunches in out of the way (and not so out of the way) restaurants, markets, vineyards, the best beaches and the best places for seafood, fantastic cycling routes - the list goes on. It is a beautiful region, with so much to see and do. Suzanna and Jonathan organise a welcome evening every Sunday, a good opportunity to meet the occupants of the other gites and to exchange information. We have always got on well with the other guests - including this year, when we all got together for a spontaneous and highly enjoyable farewell evening (on the terrace of Coquelicot). On our first visit we only stayed for a week but quickly realised that it wasn't long enough. We have always stayed in Gite Coquelicot and having at one time or another looked around the other two gites, know that it is characteristically well maintained and equipped and tastefully decorated and furnished - in fact way beyond other holiday apartments that we have stayed in. The pool is perfect for relaxing (and exercising), and the arrangement with Karen, who offers various treatments and massages is a bonus - there is nothing like a massage after a long drive down. Ultimately we know that the question, 'Would you recommend this to a friend?' is a good indicator of the value of something. Well, La Maison des Vignes was recommended to us, and in turn, we have recommended it, and as I write this friends are staying there now. It really is France at its finest.

Excellent and well appointed

Our group of 4 adults spend a fantastic week at La Maison des Vignes, Coquelicot gite, in late June. The apartment was perfect for us with plenty of space to stretch out and not get in each others way. The kitchen was very well equipped and we made good use of the barbecue on the patio. We could imagine getting good use of the beautiful pool and deck loungers, had the weather been a bit warmer. Jonathan was a terrific host who provided us with lots of useful information about the area. They have also compiled a wonderful binder full ideas. I would not hesitate to recommend LMDV to friends and family.

Gite Coquelicot

My wife and I and another couple stayed in the Gite Coquelicot for 2 weeks at the end of May 2013. We have been to Languedoc many times and found this gite to be the best one yet. The gite has been professionally converted within an old stone building; making it a very comfortable accommodation especially for 2 couples. There is a large terrace for this gite, overlooking the beautiful and well maintained grounds. The owners, who live on the property, made us feel very welcome and comfortable, and were always available for any special needs. They also had a weekly guest reception to help with local area orientation while sampling local wines, which was very enjoyable.

French Hideaway!

The barn conversion that was our Coquelicot Gite for the week was well appointed, and has a fabulous terrace overlooking the pool area which was a sun trap. The village is small, with only a village shop in terms of amenities, so a car is needed to go out for dinner etc.. The owners are great, really friendly and helpful, as well as knowledgable about the the local area, suggesting places to go and things to see, which was really useful. There are lots of things to do within c 45 minutes of the Gite, and access to the main roads is easy. The only negative comment we have about the Gite is that it hadn't been cleaned as thoroughly as it could have been.. Overall, we had a great time and the Gite was lovely, so we would recommend to our friends

Lovely gite in Languedoc Roussillon

My family had a wonderful week staying in the Gite Coquelicot. The accommodation had everything we wanted in a holiday home: it was charming, clean and well-maintained; the swimming pool was cool and relaxig, especially on a hot day; the owners were welcoming, helpful and full of advice on what to do and where to go. The gite is well located - the village has a small shop selling a range of supplies, as well as a post office and two wine producers; there's even a pizza van that visits once a week. It's a short drive from larger villages and towns with markets and supermarkets as well as tourist sites such as Minerve and Carcassone. We also visited some beautiful beaches. We had a lovely time and would definitely book again if we holiday in the region in the future.

The Perfect Getaway

Just back from my third visit and it will not be the last. Tucked away in a quiet village, La Maison Des Vignes is a perfect hideaway in the countryside. I wish I could keep it a secret, but its too nice not to share.

Peaceful retreat with excellent facilities

The gite was really spacious and well equipped. We travelled with our young son (16 months) and there were lots of extra details that made our stay easier like stair gates and a proper wooden cot. The owners have really thought through guests needs, and the rooms have good storage, plenty of space, and extra little details like a decent hairdryer, pleanty of hooks, and a coffee machine. They are finished to a high standard. There is loads to do in the area, with beaches 45 mins / 1 hr away, but lots of nice towns to visit closer by. The hospitality of the owners was great - the welcome soiree was a really nice touch, with wine, canapes and a chance to chat to the owners and fellow guests. For very young children there isn't a massive area to play in that isn't around the pool, but with just one child it wasn't a big problem for us. I would definitely recommend this to others.

Happy holiday

Second time here and yet another fantastic holiday for our family. This time 11 of us using two gites. Still plenty to see and to do for all of us age between 10 and 74. IF you want to relax go to a beach or visit and embrace the local culture and wine we think this is the place to come it has got the lot. Great accomadation facilities and hosts. Forgot the weather is good as well. Will be returning soon.

Haven in S France

Stayed in Coquelicot with 2 adults and 2 children at the end of July 2012. A wonderful gite with everything provided that a family would need. Was especially pleased with dish washer and washing machine (as it's Mum's holiday too!!). Satalite TV was a bonus as London 2012 was on whilst we were out. The weather was fantastic so the pool was the focal point of our holiday with lots of comfy sun beds and a spotless pool. The area is very pretty and there are little towns with excellent markets and restaurants within a short drive or cycle (if you are feeling energetic)

La Maison des Vignes

We (two retired couples) stayed in Gite Coquelicot for two weeks in September. The gite was exactly as described, perfect for two couples, as each bedroom had its own bathroom. You had to watch your head in the upstairs bedroom, but other than that each room was well furnished for a holiday and the beds were comfortable. The gite was well equipped and furnished, although it could do with a new TV. The whole property was beautifully maintained with various seating areas so that you could escape the sun when it got too hot! The pool was especially welcome after a day of sightseeing. Jonathan and Susannah were extremely good hosts - Jonathan's introductory talk was very useful for information about places to go, restaurants etc. He also arranged for us to see the local winery when the grapes were being pressed - great! The village shop is just opposite - very useful for most everyday items, and the shop at the local petrol station was as good as any supermarket with an excellent butchers. There are a couple of good restaurants in Homps - on the Canal du Midi - En Bonne Compagnie, and La Perniche, but avoid Les Tonneliers. We would certainly recommend La Maison des Vignes to friends. It is a good base for visiting Carcassonne, Montpellier, Narbonne and all the Cathar sites - the wine is pretty good too!

Found heaven in France

Traveled to various parts of France for 18 years with family and freinds travelling by ferry, driving and flying. We have tried many different kinds of accomadation ie caravans, tents, gites, hotels and holiday parks. However do not really think we will ever top this gite/home.Every thing in the gite was perfect as well as the pool the hospitality and the local village. Airport only 40 mins away, several beaches only 40 mins away. The discription given about the gite and the area is probably understated . I would recomend this gite, the owners and there hospitality , the pool and the local area to every body. Seeing is believing you will not regret Daniel

La Maison des Vignes

We were very impressed with every aspect of the accommmodation, which was in a lovely setting. The owners had given a great deal of thought in offering a range of facilities suitable for all ages. The booking process was very straightforward with excellent information from the owners prior to arrival about the local facilities. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful - we especially enjoyed the welcome evening. We would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Fantastic Holiday Property

We have just returned from two fantastic weeks at La Maison des Vignes. We stayed Week 1 in Gite Cocquelicot and Week 2 in Lavande - it was the only way to get 2 consecutive weeks in high season - this property is excellent and books up fast - but it worked out very well. The accomodation is excellent quality, beautifully designed; and the pool area is fantastic. Our children (age 9 and 6) would happily have spent every day playing in the pool with the new friends they made - however La Maison des Vignes is a also great location for a huge range of activities in a great area. We cycled along the Canal du Midi, and amongst vineyards, visited Carcassonne and Narbonne, had a couple of day trips to the Med beaches, and a great day trip to the river pools at Ribaute. If the benefits of the gites and local area aren't enough, then the hospitality and customer service of Jonathan and Suzanna really makes this holiday stand out. They are welcoming, attentive but also completely unintrusive. They gave great advice to help us make the most of our stay. I would highly recommend this property: high quality accomodation with great hosts in a beautiful area.

Gite Coquelicot La Maison De Vignes France

The four of us stayed in the above Gite for two weeks in July 2011 In essence it would be true to stay that this was the best holiday we have ever had. The area, the village and indeed the accommodation is charming. The opportunities to do things are endless with us cycling extensively, swimming, attending a variety of beaches and in keeping with the French tradition eating in very good restaurants. Highlights included cycling along the banks of the Canal Du Midi attending a stage of the Tour De France and joining in at a local village meal. Finally I cannot recommend our hosts enough with the professional way in which we were always treated. The owners had a friendly endearing manner and a comfortable approach which immediately made us all feel at home As is the case with all people who are involved in hospitality the true test is how you are dealt with when things go wrong and a puncture and a broken teapot certainly showed us that our hosts provided a faultless service. All in all I would not hesitate to recommend the gite the owners the area to anyone thinking of visiting the South of France.

La Maison des Vignes, Tourouzelle

A lovely gite in an old, pretty and un-touristy village, well located to visit the tourist destinations of Carcassone, Minerve, Narbonne and the Canal du MIdi. We also went further afield to the Montagne Noir Pyrenees (try the road from Quillac to the Col de Jau and Perpignan if you like a wild trip through ravines). The gite lived up to the description on the website - a beatifully renovated winery, with lovely grounds and pool. We stayed at Coquelicot, which has great facilities (although the beam in the mezzanine bedroom might podse a problem for the tall and inattentive). Hosts Jonathon and Suzanne were very delightful and helpful. We'd certainly recommend this Gite to friends.
