This was an absolutely wonderful stay. The home is in a fabulous location and is in great condition. The backyard is perfect for hosting family gatherings or guys/girls trips. We loved the rustic nature of the home, yet it still had all the modern amenities.
The home features a huge porch and plenty of rocking chairs that overlooks the Santa Ynez mountains, and is a great spot for coffee in the morning. The front area also has a basketball hoop.
The house has a huge backyard, complete with a jacuzzi, plenty of space for lawn games, as well as plenty of sitting for outdoor dinners. There is also plenty of lighting if you wish to spend the warm summer nights outdoors. There is even a chicken coop with chickens producing eggs that you are allowed to eat!
Inside, the first level of the home features a large dining room and table, plenty of space in the living room for the whole family, as well as a game room with pool table and darts. Of note, they have satellite TV, a DVD player, and an extra HDMI if you wish to hook up something else. The kitchen was also great with plenty of space for cooking and food storage. They also had just about any utensil/plate/cup that you could need.
Upstairs are the four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bedrooms were great, and many included USB plugs for charging phones and accessories. All beds were clean and comfortable and had high quality pillows. Also, the AC worked great throughout the home, and kept us comfortable during the hot days.
There are only two things I would note to be aware of:
1) We received notice from Megan, the host, on our first full day there that there was a noise complaint from a neighbor. This was around 11:15 AM. We were playing lawn games, and cheering, so we admit it was loud, but it felt like a pretty safe hour to be making noise. We made a quick call to Megan to explain the situation and she was completely understandable. We kept it down from that point on, and there were no further issues. Just be aware you are in a canyon and the noise can really travel.
2) The second and third bed in the master bedroom are essentially in a closet, and have no space in between them, or on the sides. This set up worked OK for us, and would work fine for kids, but if you are a group of adults expecting three individual beds, it may be a challenge.
In the end, the home was nearly perfect, and Megan was a wonderful host and great communicator. We wouldn’t hesitate to rent the home in the future.
