Town: On the western side of The Peaks, in the heart of the beautiful Moorland scenery, is the hillside market town of Leek, also referred to as "The Queen of the Moorlands." The town's lovely cobblestone market square and numerous instances of magnificent Victorian architecture, many of which bear William Morris' influence, serve as a reminder of the prosperity the area experienced when it was known as a centre for the production of silk.
