About this property

Luxurious, calm, tranquil. Close to local amenities, far enough to totally relax

The lets are configured around a pretty courtyard. Because of the design, each home gets privacy. Little Howle Farm dates back to the early 1800's so all the buildings have thick stone walls, which in the winter hold the heat and in the summer keeps them lovely and cool inside. We are no longer a working farm, what were once working barns are now beautiful holiday lets.

Rivington Barn is a stunning luxury barn conversion. Rivington is our largest property. It is well equipped, in every sense. It is a perfect place to come back to at the end of a busy day exploring this amazing area.
Rivington has two large, equally spacious, double bedrooms, both with luxury ensuite bathrooms. Each bedroom can be configured with a king size bed or two single beds. The bathrooms both include a large bath, a generous separate shower, shower gel and White Company bubble bath. We provide cotton bedding, luxury fluffy bath sheets, hand towels, flannels and bath mats. The living area is situated upstairs. To reach it, you walk up a central staircase, into an amazing galleried area which is completely open plan with high ceilings, beams and lots of natural light. To the right is a large lounge area, complete with a smart TV and gas log effect burner. The dining and kitchen areas are to the left, fully equipped with hob, oven, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. We provide tea towels, dish cloths/sponge, oven gloves and apron as well as cleaning products.
There are games, puzzles, local information, suggested walks and OS maps provided.
There is a patio area directly outside the cottage, which is a lovely sheltered place to sit, as it gets the sun all day. We also invite our guests to use the rear garden, which includes a barbeque and fire pit area, a large lawned area and a sun terrace at the top of the garden over looking the Malvern Hills. There is very little light pollution in Howle Hill so the terrace is perfect for star gazing.
There is plenty of on site parking is available to the rear of the barn.
We have a laundry room should guests need it (payable separately).

Howle Hill is a tiny settlement, too small to be called a village! It is very quiet here.
Many guests describe it as a haven and often comment how well they sleep and how relaxed they feel. We are perfectly placed between the Wye Valley and The Forest of Dean. A 5 minute drive from Ross on Wye with its many pubs, restaurants, shops and watersports on the river Wye. A 10 minute drive in the other direction takes you into The Forest of Dean.

We provide a welcome pack which includes Milk, local fruit juice, Weston's cider, cake, tea, coffee and sugar.

Acorn Cottage can be linked internally with Rivington Barn which creates a 3 double ensuite bedroom property to sleep 6. We also have The Granary which sleeps 4, meaning we can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests at any one time.

A Great Stay at Ross-on-Wye
This 2br/2ba house is a delightful barn conversion that is 8 min. from Ross-on-Wye. It is very comfortable, clean, and modern inside with a fully functional kitchen, and ample parking. Laundry is located in a separate building. The house is centrally situated within an hours drive to almost any location within the Cotswolds area that covers 11 counties. It is less than 3 hours driving from London and surrounding airports as well as Southampton. We would highly recommend this place for exploring southwest England!

Wonderful stay at perfect property with lovely hosts
Cottage was spotless with everything you could need for your stay, and Amanda and Derek were perfect hosts. We really felt a part of their family for the time we stayed with them. My wife loved the felting workshop in the milking parlour! The cottages are set in beautiful, peacefully surroundings, whilst being a short drive from the facilities of Ross on Wye. Will happily return in future.

Fabulous property, great location, super hosts
Little Howle has 3 holiday rentals and Rivington Barn is the jewel in the crown. It is a very well thought out, high spec, barn conversion with a glorious, open plan, upstairs living space and two ample, comfortable, en suite double bedrooms downstairs. Amanda and Derek have thought of your every needs and more and are very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable hosts. There is so much to do and see in the Wye Valley and Little Howle is an excellent base to do this from, then return to for an evening of luxurious relaxation.

Glorious Break
From start to finish we were looked after by the owners who wanted to ensure that we had everything we needed and if we didn’t wanted to make it happen. The property was immaculately presented and had everything you could want in a home from home. The location was perfect if you just want to get away from it all and have some well earned peace and quiet but close enough to access a wealth of activities and locations. We will definitely return again Thank you Amanda & Derek first class host’s Steve & Helen

Holiday in Rivington Barn, Little Howle Farm
From the outset the holiday accommodation was brilliant. The cottage is beautiful spotlessly clean and wonderfully equipped. The decoration and finish is to the highest standard. I am familiar with self catering and this is top of my list. We hope to visit in future and are strongly recommending family and friends to book. Amanda and Derek were wonderful hosts - best scones ever!

Beautiful location and wonderful hosts
What a smart house! Beautifully set out, everything provided from sharp knives to large wardrobes, comfy beds and tea bags and milk on arrival. Amanda and Derek were wonderfully kind, with Derek even helping me get the cycle carrier onto our car after my husband broke his arm. Above and beyond the job description, that's for sure! And Amanda helped entertain the kids whilst I was packing up. We really appreciated the kindness as well as the luxury accommodation. We were able to store our bikes in a secure shed so as not to bring mess into the house too. There are lots of bike trails and running trails nearby, in addition to the more famous ones near Coleford. Loads to do generally. We enjoyed Raglan and Goodrich castles, canoeing on the Wye, the Wye Greenway (cycle path from Chepstow to Tintern with a bat tunnel), Go Ape, swimming off the beach in Ross on Wye and much more.

An amazing place to stay
We had a wonderful 10 nights at Rivington Barn. The property is stunning. We have sometimes found in other properties that the reality is not quite as good as the photos, but here the reality is even better! Everything you could possibly need is there and the standard is really high. Amanda and Derek are wonderful hosts and we will definitely go back. The area is beautiful and there is so much to see and do around Ross. There are great pubs and restaurants a short drive away. We cannot recommend highly enough.

Lovely Barn conversion in excellent location
We originally booked this for New Year - postponed to June due to Covid19. Slight snag for a summer break was lack private outside space although Amanda and Derek were very willing for everyone to use their lovely garden. It would also have been useful to know in advance that shoes were not allowed inside the property (we would have brought slippers) but actually it was warm weather so this was not an issue. Everything else was great and we had a lovely holiday.

A delight to stay here, gorgeous decor and design in a home within beautiful surroundings
Warm welcome, not rushed and genuine, Amanda is a superb host! A gift of fresh eggs, bread, milk and scones were so thoughtful, a treat and not to mention delicious. What a beautiful home, ample space, clean throughout! We had everything we needed kitchen-wise. Luxurious finish and feel to the property, truly a beautiful place to stay. We are a family of 4, 2 young children's (20mnths + 3mnths) and it's was ideal, very quiet, Stairgate provided and even a small token of toys from Amanda for the eldest to play with. The property is a 6 minute drive to Ross on Wye which is a pretty village, and Monmouth is 17-20 minutes drive away again another lovely village. We explored ledbury a lovely Tudor town. Sadly we didn't get to walking but we did enjoy hearing the odd cow moo during the day through our stay and the immediate freshness of the country air on our doorstep. Truly lovely, we'll definitely come back in future, highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

We are originally from Kent. We saw this amazing property, then managed to buy it! We absolutely love it here. We have always worked with people and really enjoy meeting our guests and doing our best to make sure their stay is what they want it to be. We are both practical people and enjoy crafts, socializing and sports.

Why they chose this property

We love that Little Howle Farm is so calm and peaceful. It's great to be by the river with people, or in town in a busy pub, then home to our beautiful spot, with only cows and sheep for neighbours!

What makes this property unique

Everyone comments on how well the barns have been converted and to such a high standard. We have many returning guests. We don't offer hot tubs and busy bars, what we offer is somewhere to relax, reconnect with family and friends and recharge.
