Breathtaking views in a peaceful little town
My family and I spent 10 days in this wonderful umbrian villa. I'll start with the bad right away: cleaning could've been a tad better (some spider webs in a couple corners, but it's a big villa and it's easy miss stuff). Most of all, it was hot. As the property didn't have AC and the outside temperatures were pushing 40 degrees (August), the first night was very, very unfomfortable to the point where I was considering moving out. We ended up sleeping on the lower levels that night as it was cooler (house is built on many levels flanking the mountain). We had fans but they couldn't fight this kind of heat. The temperatures cooled down the next days and we were able to better enjoy this exceptionnal property. With this type of house there is a learning curve in keeping it cool.
We enjoyed the pool and its views, every morning we had breakfast outside on the patio in the shade enjoying the sights and sounds of the umbrian countryside. Pure bliss. Grocery store is about 15 mins away and carries all you need for your stay. We spent some time exploring the nearby towns and spent some days of farniente at the villa. Host was responsive when needed and their guide proved very useful. Overall we would definitely come back. It's an old house with character and I wouldn't change much to it to be honest. Being away from modern amenities really enhances this experience. We have very fond memories of our stay at La Fonte and we already miss it.
