Perfect peace.
Excellent communication from the owners, Jacki and John before we arrived, reassuring me regarding Covid . They were attentive, but in no way encroaching during our stay, checking we were ok with everything. The cottage is so thoughtfully designed, everything is covered. The heating system works brilliantly, radiators upstairs on their own thermostat, underfloor heating downstairs and a log burner . We turned the heating off downstairs, as the log burner so toasty warm! The kitchen is particularly well equipped, you could easily cook full meals. Upstairs, again, everything you could need has been thought of. Bathroom is good, nice electric shower. Everything was spotlessly clean. The location was gorgeous, a farm on the moors, not a sound . The stars were amazing! We did some walks direct from the cottage, it’s always good not to go in the car. You can walk to Goathland ,Grosmont and Beck Hole, which we did. Further afield , coastal walks are spectacular. About 20 mins from Whitby for fish and chips. The Wi-Fi is pretty much non existent, I used my phone as a hotspot a couple of times. We did our research for walks before we got there, which was a good thing. We have had the perfect week away from all the stress and worry of the craziness of 2020. Seriously hope we will be back soon. Huge thank you to Jackie and John.

Great cottage in a lovely location
Ideal for us as we like to walk without using the car and there are many walks to choose from this cottage. It is a warm and cosy cottage to return to at the end of the day, fully equipt with all you need.

Great hosts, really welcoming and helpful. The cottage was lovely, all amenities and spotless and clean. Ideal for walking and the views are to die for. Five minutes from Sleights by car and ten/fifteen from Whitby. Great place to stay.

A walker's dream
What a fabulous place to stay. The cottage had everything we needed ... and Tesco delivered too! We walked everyday and were not disappointed. From curlews to steam trains. The scenery was just perfect. As was the cottage, the location and our hosts. Jackie and John could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We will definitely return.

Lovely, quiet location
A warm welcome to a remote location. A lovely, quiet and well appointed house. Views over the moors with gorgeous sunsets. A great location for visiting the surrounding area. Well worth exploring Goathland, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and many other places. So good to return to a warm and cosy home at the end of a great day exploring. Thanks Jackie and John.

Would def stay again
Jackie and John were very warm and welcoming and the cottage was immaculate and very well equipped for our small family. Simple touches like cling film and washing liquid made all the difference compared to many holiday lets we’ve stayed in before. Cosy living room and well appointed kitchen in beautiful surroundings giving true rest and relaxation with so much to see and do in the area. Wonderful. Thank you for a fantastic stay 👍🏻

Fantastic cottage in a great location
We enjoyed a fantastic 5-night stay here. The cottage is in a lovely, quiet location that is perfect for exploring the local area and beyond. It is clean, really well equipped and has everything needed for your visit. John and Jackie are also wonderful hosts who go the extra mile to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it if you want the perfect spot near Whitby but in a idyllic location.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location
We had a fantastic time at this beautifully clean (and it takes a lot to impress me!) cottage in stunning surroundings. Great to get away from the rat race and relax in the countryside. The cottage had everything we needed and the owners were very welcoming. We will definitely be back and have already recommended it to our parents to visit!

Great setting on beautiful moorland
Cottage very clean & comfortable with welcoming, helpful owners. Very spacious and well equipped downstairs. Second bedroom upstairs restricted head room but still comfortable. A minor point but a couple more hooks or somewhere to hang towels upstairs would be a bonus. Overall, a very lovely place to stay.

Wonderful place
We found the countryside around the the cottage is spectacular, the cottage itself is cosy comfortable warm and very clean, we had a lovely four days there and would definitely go back again, the hosts couldn't be more helpful, with nothing being to much trouble. Lovely barn conversion in a fantastic rural setting
As others have commented - this really is a great little property to spend a week in. The scenery around Greenlands Farm is something else and provides a great base for getting away from it all. That said, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough and all the other tourist destinations are easily accessible by car. The property itself is very well presented with all of the bits and bobs you could need for your stay. Jackie and John are great hosts, ensuring you have everything you need for your stay and always willing to advise on things to see and do in the area. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending a break here and am sure that we will return in the future.

Lovely cottage in peaceful location.
This is a modern conversion of an older farm building resulting in a clean, pleasantly decorated, comfortable and very well equipped cottage. The outdoor space available is good for children to safely play in and the walks from the doorstep are lovely with panoramic views across the moors. The location is handy for the coast being a short drive to Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay. Jackie and John are very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay with them again.

Lovely cottage
We had a lovely stay at this cottage, Jackie and John were very welcoming and friendly putting us at ease as soon as we arrived. The cottage was very welcoming and clean with everything we could possibly need for our stay. Our 2 year old was kept amused by the toys provided more so than the ones we brought with us! A Highchair was provided and we were offered the use of a stair gate too. The location was perfect for what we wanted, not too far from Whitby and a nice quiet location. Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone.

Lovely warm house in the middle of nowhere.
A great place to get away from it all. Beautiful views, up close to the wildlife, with friendly hosts. We had two little ones who loved being on a farm. There are no amenities in walking distance but a short drive in the car gets you to Goathland. Underfloor heating from ground source heat pump meant that the house never felt cold. Definitely recommend for families and walkers alike.

Beautiful cottage in the middle of the North Yorkshire Moors
Lapwing Cottage is set on Greenlands Farm in the National Park and is in the middle of nowhere, yet still very close to all the local attractions and amenities - Grosmont, Whitby, Pickering, Goathland. We had a fabulous week staying here with my husband's grandmother and we were able to get out and about everyday to see lots of places she used to visit when she was younger. (She didn't forget a single detail). From the cottage you saw grouse, pheasants, curlews, lapwings, rabbits, hares and of course, sheep! The cottage itself was lovely and warm with underfloor heating and had a cosy woodburner - which wasn't really needed as the floor heating was lovely and cosy. Jacqueline and John had thought of every detail possible in terms of what anybody would need staying there and we were very comfortable indeed. We would definitely go back again one day and would certainly recommend it to anybody going to that area.
