Lovely secluded villa but still close enough to the city of Florence. Nice rural environment on the hills. Nice and clean swimming pool. The Villa owner has a restaurant near the property which showcases local products in an innovative way.
Quiet, peaceful Villa. 25 minutes to Florence or even easier to leave your car in Pratolino and have a cab take you into the city. Driving in Florence is nuts. Didn’t really spend much time at the Villa and weather was cool so we couldn’t enjoy the pool but the area is beautiful.
Pratolino is a wonderful place. The house has a good pool and terrasse with a great view. The house itself is spacious and nice cool on a hot summer day. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs with room for 3 persons in each and a master bedroom downstairs. Guido gave us several useful advises about good restaurants nearby, wine tasting, parking in Florence etc. However we chose to cook ourselves most days as we wanted to enjoy the dinner watching the sunset from our terrace. Guido also gave us some vegetables from his garden which made the pleasure of making our own meals even bigger.
Good tips:
See the sunset from the small church 5 minutes walk from the house. The extra height gives an even better view of the hills and the landscape.
There is a nice walk to a nearby monastery – on top of the hill.
And even the walk to Caselline where they serve a wonderful lunch is only 40 minutes and gives many good views on the way.
We would love to come back.
Excellent check in, they had time to give some helpful guidance for wineries and places to eat.
We ran out off gas one evening, and called the manger, 1/2 hour after we had gas again, great service.
After spending 5 days in the center of Florence thus was a great respite. I suggest bringing groceries and good wine up from Florence. Selections in the neighboring towns are limited. Also take a drive to the barbarino outlet mall. Even if shopping isn’t your thing it has several nice restaurants and a great view to walk around. Guido and his wife were great property owners and very helpful and responsive
