Stepping inside, you have the welcoming living room with sumptuous sofas around the multi-fuel burner. The kitchen boasts huge windows looking out onto the valley with rolling fields stretched out before you. The dining table has a characterful pew and chapel chairs reclaimed from a church, the furniture has been carefully sourced with some beautifully crafted antique pieces in keeping with the property’s history and charm. The kitchen is modern with high quality integrated appliances, the perfect blend of modern luxury and heritage furnishings.
Stepping out onto the porcelain tiled patio you can enjoy spectacular views over the countryside, and there is comfortable outdoor seating so that you can dine al fresco on sunny days. On the first floor you have two bedrooms and also a family bathroom, whilst on the second floor you have two beautifully presented double bedrooms, as well as a shower room.
The small village of Sleights has a pub, fish and chip shop, an award-winning butcher’s, a Victorian bakery, café, post office and convenience store. You are just next to the neighbouring village of Ruswarp which has boat, kayak and paddleboard hire, so that you can take in the scenery as well as the wildlife from the river.
The seaside resort of Whitby is less than 4 miles away, at the mouth of the River Esk, home to cobbled streets and winding alleys, a picturesque harbour, glorious sandy beach, piers and a host of attractions. Visit the abbey and its famous 199 steps, which offer picturesque coastal views from the top, and take a guided tour to learn more about the history of the town. Scarborough is slightly further afield, with its two sandy beaches, separated by its 12th-century castle, along with Peasholm Park, a spectacular Japanese landscaped park, Aplamare, an exhilarating water park and spa, a SEA LIFE Centre and the North Bay Heritage Railway. You also have the coastal destinations of Robin Hood’s Bay, Staithes, Sandsend and Runswick Bay to discover.
On the edge of the North York Moors National Park, there is an abundance of walking and cycling opportunities, and varied landscapes ranging from vast moorland to wooded river valleys, quaint villages to dramatic coastline.
