First time to York
What a delightful city and a perfect flat to enjoy it.

Great location, beautiful apartment - not the best sleep though
This place is spotless and really well decorated. It couldn't be closer to York's centre and most attractions either. It is also good value for money and had it not been for the disturbed sleep, we would book again. We are sad to write this though because it is such a lovely place, but we didn't sleep great. The blind in the bedroom doesn't fully cover the window and isn't a black out blind so the room was as light as day light when the sun came up. It really could use some curtains as well as the blind. And the window in the bedroom has a second covering on it (I imagine to help block out the noise) but the window was open slightly (and we couldn't close it because of the 2nd covering and a message on their saying not to touch it). We understand that staying in the heart of York will be noisy but not being able to close the window as personal preference unfortunately added to the disturbed sleep. For some people this wouldn't be a deal breaker at all, especially given how lovely the property is and the location.

If you wish to quite literally fall into York history this is a great place to stay. I believe the furthest distance we had to walk to get anywhere was a whooping 15 minutes (most of the things we planned were 10 or less). The flat is exactly as described. It's actually quite spacious for two people and you can spend quite a bit of time watching people mill around Clifford's Tower. The bed and couch/chairs are comfy, and you have a spare blanket and a few towels, as well as 'starter' kitchen items and a few biscuits which can get you sorted until you get your bearings. Things to note: You are RIGHT next to the road - so if you are not used to traffic do bring some ear plugs (which we did, and it worked fine). There is only two things that are minor (and I mean minor) niggles. One is there is a blind but no curtains in the bedroom - so if you stay in summertime be ready as the room can and will light up EARLY. (Next time I'm bringing a sleeping mask.) Next, the coffee machine they have is the odd-shaped Nespresso pods. Not ones you can easily find in shops. So if you are die-hard Nespresso, message the group to check on the machine type there because I did not get lucky in my search (but I wasn't staying long so just went with the basic coffee). Outside of that you get plenty of info prior to the trip, and we had no issues getting in or out. I would quite happily stay here again.

Nearly Perfect
The property location was excellent. Access was straightforward and the pre-arrival instructions and Welcome Pack was first class. The flat itself matched the description and had all the facilities we could have wanted. Everything worked and the handbook provided all the information we needed. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom small, but more than adequate and the living area had superb views over Clifford's Tower. Everything was great, until 3.55am on our last morning when the occupants of the flat below arrived back and decided it was party-time. Loud voices and loud music which went on for an hour. It was disappointing, but it certainly wouldn't put us off returning to the Castle Bailey flat again,

Plenty of car parks close by
I booked this property very last minute due to work commitments, in fact I paid for it & left the house to travel to the destination. On arrival we had all the information required to access the property. We had a little difficulty gaining access but rang the helpline. The girl was lovely and ran us through the entry requirements ( we missed a digit from the code!) the place was spotless, everything you would require for a stay. Extra glazing on the windows so we heard no noise despite it being in a busy area. There is the castle car park across the road & plenty of long stay disabled parking around. Amazing view of the castle & walking distance of every York attraction, we will definitely use it again.
