A great place to relax, a perfect location to sightsee not far from all shopping. Amanda was the perfect host and thought of everything. Over all it’s a 10 from me .
An exceptional place to stay!! The house was immaculately presented, and we wanted for nothing. Thank you for hosting part of our amazing Highlands tour!!!
Extremely happy with our stay at the “The Cart Shed”. It was like a home away from home. Was very well equipped down to the toys and games for our 4 year old family member who was travelling with us. Would definitely stay there again for future visits to Scotland. Highly recommend this property
The property was lovely and cozy. Great thought had been given to the interior with lovely touches. It is in a very quiet hamlet which suited us. Sadly the village pub had closed!! Kitchen well supplied with cooking appliances, nice crockery and glasses. A peaceful week with too much eating and drinking.
My mum, sister and I had a wonderful stay here earlier this month. The accomodation is very tasteful and spotlessly clean. Some lovely touches to make us feel welcome, including home baking. From Gatehead, we visited Troon, Ayr, Largs and took the ferry to the Isle of Cumbrae - stunning scenery. Would not hesitate to return.
The cart shed cottage was exactly what we needed as a family after a very tough year, the personal touches and relaxing environment made it easy to switch off and relax, every person had a room that felt special. There was no corner of the cottage that felt overlooked or neglected. Neighbours staying next door did not encroach on the space as it felt individual outside with our own terrace. Location was very good. Just outside of Kilmarnock to be very quiet and near enough to Glasgow for some serious retail therapy. 😊 Scotland is beautiful and we loved going out to various locations which were within a short drive. Lots of information on nearby facilities and attractions was very helpful too. We would heartily recommend this venue 👌
Arrived slightly early after a long drive and welcomed by the owners. We found the cottage to be very clean with lots of homely touches. The cottage was a peaceful and comfortable place to stay and we would recommended to future holiday makers.
The Holman family
Lovely cottage with plenty room for 6. Well equipped with nice wee sun trap garden. Not much in Gatehead but only 10 mins drive from Troon and 20 mins from Ayr so was ideal for a trip to the races. Would definitely stay again.
As a family of 6 we had a great stay in a spacious and very clean and well presented house.
The owner was excellent to deal with, very friendly and quick to respond to any requests, a lovely cake and fresh milk and coffee were an extremely nice welcoming touch.
The house is very well situated if you are looking at exploring the coastline along the Firth of Clyde - Largs, Arran, Culzean and Glasgow was only 30-45 minutes away, we even made it the Forest of Ae to enjoy the great mountain bike trails there.
Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when back in the area!
This cottage is very nice, well maintained, clean, and in a beautiful location. The hosts are outstanding and extremely helpful. Highly recommended for any visit to this area.

Wonderful home away from home
Our Scotland home stay in the Old Rome Mews Cottage was lovely beyond expectation. We were greeted with flowers and baked goods and clean, bright and cozy rooms. We had plenty of room for relaxing in the sitting room after a day of touring and a complete kitchen for use. Thanks, Amanda for your hospitality.

A wonderful place stay with a lovely homely feel
We had a fantastic stay. Amanda went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, even at such short notice over the festive period.
We are a family of four with two young children. Amanda filled the house with little extras everywhere. Toys, home baking treats, hire chair and even a little Christmas tree and bubbly in the fridge. It was a delight. The location was super for us aswell, just five minutes drive from family we were visiting and set within lovely Ayrshire countryside. The accommodation was spotless and offered ample space for us all. Thank you

The Cart Shed
Fabulous stay in the Card Shed. Very welcoming - lovely little Halloween treats left for the children. Also very accessible for my mum with two bedrooms being on the ground floor and only 3 small steps into the cottage. Homely, warm, clean and family friendly. Thanks!

A lovely cottage in a nice area
I would highly recommend the Cart Shed at Old Rome for holiday stay.
From the beginning we felt at home. Besides that is very spacious it is also very clean.
When we were exploring the area, we knew we would have a good night rest every day.
If there will be a next time for this area we don't know, but if there is, we would absolutely stay at this cottage.

A cottage like no other!
The Cart Shed at Old Rome is a holiday cottage that I would highly recommend! It is furnished to the highest standard and then some. The owners have really gone to a lot of effort to make it homely, spacious and comfortable with many added touches that make all the difference in the world!
Our family enjoyed our stay there so very much and we would highly recommend this cottage and it's wonderful location so close to miles of unspoiled beaches, a short drive from the Highlands, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The Cart Shed was a cottage we were excited to return to every evening after exploring Ayrshire and beyond.
Thank you to the team at Old Rome - we will hopefully be back again one day!
