About this property

Villa Dodi - villa with garden located between Pietrasanta & Versilia beaches

Villa Dodi is a wonderful retreat for any self-catering holiday rental in Tuscany. The spacious, modern villa is situated in the picturesque town of Pietrasanta. It sits in a pretty residential area nestled at the foot of the Alpi Apuane, halfway between Pietrasanta and Marina di Pietrasanta and only 2 miles from the famous Versilia beaches. The semi-detached property is spread over 3 floors; the ground floor includes a lounge with plasma TV & DVD player, WC, well equipped kitchen and 2 double bedrooms each with en suites - one en suite has a whirlpool bath with shower over, the other has a shower enclosure. Both the kitchen and lounge lead onto a relaxing portico, perfect for al fresco dining (seats 8). The taverna (basement) where the temperatures are cooler in summer has a further lounge and kitchen, a dining area and an additional shower room plus a utility room with washing machine, iron & ironing board. The loft is light and airy with 2 further bedrooms both with en suite bathrooms and including separate showers. There is air conditioning throughout the property and mosquito nets on all windows & doors. The property is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens with 2 sun loungers, electronic gates, parking & a shared driveway (shared only with our other semi-detached villa - Villa Iana.

Pietrasanta is famous for its art, marble galleries, marble and bronze sculptures, monuments and studios and has consequently become known as Italy’s Little Athens.

Beach / pools: Versilia is famous for its beautiful wide, golden, sandy beaches. There are many private beach clubs or 'bagni' - these are full-service beaches many of which have fantastic pools, as well as the usual umbrellas, 'tende', sun loungers, deck chairs and cabins. Many bagni also have restaurants, cafés, bars and many other excellent facilities eg showers. It is highly recommended to pre-book your beach club before arriving in Pietrasanta. Our villas are situated only 100m from the cycle path that takes you directly to the beach under the protection of a beautiful tree lined boulevard.

Viareggio Carnival: Villa Dodi is a great base to experience the famous Viareggio Carnival. This spectacular event - one of the finest and grandest in Italy takes place throughout Mardi Gras each year (and repeated on a smaller scale during August). Celebrations include a wide programme of entertainment and fun for adults and children; the famous papier mâché floats -(works of art in themselves that take a year to create) parades, performances, public festivities and masked balls. A fantastic event not to be missed!

Local shops: There are 2 supermarkets (Coop & Conad) within easy reach of Villa Dodi and plenty of shops in Pietrasanta old town.

Restaurants & bars: you will be spoilt for choice for places to eat and drink in Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi, Lido di Camaiore, Viareggio. Each have a buzzing restaurant district.

Tourism: Villa Dodi is a great base to explore the best of Tuscany: Lucca, Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, Firenze, Cinque Terre and the Tuscan Archipelago.

Please note: the Italian Tourist Tax has been incorporated in the overall rental cost. The weekly laundry fee only applies for bookings of over one week.

A lovely Villa in an excellent location

We were welcomed warmly by the owners who live next door and are always on hand to assist you. The Villa was clean and welcoming! We had every facility we needed and they had even bought us special bottled water to use for our 12 week old baby to use for sterilising. A wonderful holiday which we hope to repeat again and again. Thank you Gemelli Villas - you always go the extra mile

Relaxing Holiday

We have spent one week in Villa Dodi, 2 families including 4 children. We were welcome very friendly by Gianfranco, the landlord. The house has got plenty of space for two families and is very well equipped (barbecue, AC); the kitchen has everything you need for cooking at home. The Villa is located in a nice area (small restaurants, supermarkets etc.) and close to the beach (10 min ride). On our arrival, we found a welcome package of food which was very nice. We will definitely come back! Marcus & Gaby

Wonderful property ideally located for the town at night and the beach during the day, we rent bikes and cycle 15/20 min to the beach every day its fantastic , The Villa is spacious with more than ample room for a party of 8. It has quality finishes throughout, lovely well maintained garden and a lovely outside eating table and BBQ. We have been twice and would highly recommend for friends and family. Hosts are exceptionally friendly and on hand should you have a problem.

Simply beautiful

I have just returned from a 10 day stay at Villa Dodi with a few friends. The villa is ideally placed for a short and flat cycle to the beach during the day, and in the evening you have the truly wonderful medieval town of Pietrasanta, which is a quintessential Tuscan town with excellent restaurants and bars. An evening spent here is not to be missed. Within an hour and a half of the villa we visited Portofino, Florence, Pisa (30 mins) and Lucca (30 mins), all of which are well worth a visit. I will most defiantly be back, as the villa is of the highest standard inside and out, and Tuscany is simply beautiful.

Another fantastic stay!

It’s a real highlight to fly from the UK and arrive in the fabulous Tuscan climate and the icing on the cake is to be based in one of the best villas I’ve every stayed in. Days can be spent lazing at the beach club to soak up the sun or visiting one of the many local attractions, this year we visited Lucca for a bit of culture and Portofino which I’d thoroughly recommend as it’s one of the most picturesque harbors in Tuscany. My favorite way to spend the early evening is sitting outside at one of the many cafe bars in the old town of Pietrasanta watching the world go by before heading to one of the many restaurants for a healthy caprese salad followed by a not so healthy pizza. All in all I’d thoroughly recommend Villa Dodi for a truly wonderful holiday.

Beautiful Villa Dodi

I stayed at this truly magnificent villa for a week and could have easily stayed longer. Electric gates welcomed me into the villa's complex which boasted manicured gardens and the outside entertainment seating and BBQ area. When I entered the front door, I was impressed by the two large marble pillars and the marble interior which had a pleasant cooling effect. The whole house had a relaxing ambience about it and was comfortable throughout. I met the landlord Franco - who was very friendly and funny, and owner Oriana who was delightful and had a comprehensive knowledge of the area. The Pietrasanta town is wonderful with a beautiful town square and lovely bars, restaurants, shops and church. The villa is a perfect base for exploring the town and the other nearby areas of Forte dei Marmi and Lido di Camaiore which had great restaurants. I recommend this villa and would book again!

Villa Dodi

Villa Dodi can't be faulted for its high spec bathrooms, kitchens and overall sense of spaciousness and grandeur. There's everything you should need and if you have any questions, the wonderful proprietor is on hand to help maximise the enjoyment of your stay. The beautiful clean beach is just two miles from the villas and there are lots of other nearby attractions, Pisa is just 30 mins by car and the beautiful ancient city of Lucca is a similar distance. Of course there are also the breathtaking mountains that are worth venturing into! Pietrasanta, the town itself is delightful and has a cultural centre and plenty of coffee houses! You won't be disappointed.

An unforgetable experience!

We just returned home after spending a fabulous week touring Italy, and staying at lovely "Villa Lana" was what made our experience so enjoyable. Our party of six consisted of two couples and two singles, so we required 4 bedrooms & baths. Incredibly, our villa had an entire floor that went unused, including an extra 2 full baths. This property could easily accomodate 8 people in supreme comfort. We had room to spare and felt like we were staying in a top tier hotel. The landlord Franco, who also conveniently lives next door, is one of the most charming and accomodating people any of us has ever known. From the moment he greeted us until our farewell on the final evening, he made us feel as if we owned the villa, and he was just there to see to our every need. He's charming beyond belief, and a great help when it comes to providing dining and touring suggestions. If you're like us, you'll consider him part of your family in short order. Villa Lana is modern with an Italian flair. It has spectacular views, and is conveniently located to the train station and downtown Pietrasanta, which proved to be an unexpected gem of a town. Great dining & shopping, without crowds of tourists clogging the streets. If you're looking for the authentic Italy, Pietrasanta is it! If the rating system allowed it, we would rate our experience at Villa Lana 6 stars. If you're planning on visiting this part of Italy, you owe it to yourself to stay here, and enjoy the charm of both this wonderful villa and it's charming host, Franco. Very highly recommended.

Stunning Villa set in beautiful surroundings

We have just had a fantastic week staying in Villa Dodi - the Villa itself is stunning, every room finished to a very high standard, fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The secure garden was beautiful and safe for our 2 boys to run around in, providing peace of mind so we could fully relax on holiday. The villa is close to the beach, supermarket, bars and restaurants, a short walk into Pietrasanta old town in the evening to enjoy an aperitif before a delicious meal in one of the local restaurants let us fully enjoy the flavour of Italy. The warm welcome from the hosts Franco and Romelia truely make you feel at home. A visit to Pisa is a must, a short 30 min drive away, Plenty for everyone to do in the local area, the ice cream is amazing and must be tried !!! Thankyou for a memorable holiday. Fantastic House In Pietrasanta

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Iana. The house is superbly appointed and if anything undersold in the description. With the addition of a swimming pool this house would be perfect for a holiday. We hired bikes and rode to the beach clubs every day, our personal favourite La Chimera although expensive very luxurious. The owners are charming and extremely helpful and it is nice to have. The additional security behind electronic gates.

Lovely Pietrasanta

Our delightfull stay in Pietrasanta What a wonderful sight we found when we opened the gates of the villa. In beautiful neatly kept gardens with the most magnificent views of the mountains in the background. On opening the front door we were amazed at the vastness of the villa which had everything you could ever need, all extremely good quality. It was really comfortable and felt like a ‘home’ and not a holiday rent. An added advantage for us was having the wonderful Franko next door, his welcoming smile and hospitality made our stay even better. The Coop supermarket it not too far away and it is quite large and sells almost everything you would ever need, even a free small English lending library is available. Do remember to get the code and weigh all your fresh fruit and vegetables before you get to the pay desk, this was our mistake. The town square of Pietrasanta is a lovely place early evening to sit and have a drink and there are some good places to eat in the side streets, although they seem expensive to us the quality and service is well worth it. We found the best place to park was at the station which you can find on your way into town, although for those fitter than me you can walk into town. A visit to Pisa is a must, parking at the park and ride area and going in on a bus is the best way to do this. As you walk towards the entrance to the square, close your eyes, walk through the archway and then open them. What a magnificent sight. Also strongly recommended is a carriage ride around Pisa, picked up just outside the tower. Costs about 40Euros but with four of you that is not much and absolutely well worth it, you see so much more at a different level. Also a must is the town of Lucca, again a carriage ride (you get longer for your euro’s here) is an absolute must and so informative. A drive up into the mountain area was one of our highlights seeing the villages and the most beautiful scenery and also the boat ride along the coast to the next little town where there are the most delicious fish restaurants, also – try the ice cream – the coconut is to die for ! Although there is a lot to do but do make time to relax and soak up the sun in the lovely garden of the villa looking at the peaceful surroundings and watching Franko dig his garden – we did feel guilty. Enjoy.

Villa Dodi in Pietrasanta

A perfect venue for our requirements including parking for more than one vehicle. Facilities are excellent and the local town of Pietrasanta was delightful. We would recomment this villa to anyone who wants a well laid out spacious villa within walking distance of the town. The town itself is full of character and good restaurants with the coastal resorts just a short drive away. Good transport links to Florence, Pisa and Lucca.

Luxurious villa in great location close to beach

This was our second holiday to Villa Dodi and we absolutely love it here. We last visited with friends and we now have a 2 year old daughter and had a fabulous time as a family. We didn't want to leave! It was lovely to see Oriana and her parents again who were yet again very helpful, welcoming and have excellent knowledge of the local area and further afield. The villa is a 30 minute drive from Pisa airport and very easy to find. Everything is on the doorstep. The sea is 10 minute drive or 40 minute walk. The beaches are beautiful - clean, well looked after and safe for families. Our daughter had a great time. There are plenty of supermarkets - the Co-op is a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk away. The villa itself is luxurious, finished to a high standard and very well equipped for adults and children. All bedrooms have an en suite which are finished to a high spec - the showers are magnificent. The kitchen has everything you could wish for. We cooked quite regularly as the kitchen is like a home from home, and we ate on the portico which was just heavenly. The air conditioning and shutters help when it gets really hot. We didn't miss a swimming pool as there is plenty to do in the surrounding area, plus there are plenty available at the private beaches. Pietrasanta is within walking distance and is a lovely town which has plenty of bars of restaurants to choose from and lots of nice shops. Forte de Marmi, Via Reggio and Lucca are definitely worth a visit. We drove to Portofino for the day which was beautiful. We love Villa Dodi and will definitely be back again. Thank you for a wonderful holiday, we'll see you again soon! Love the Buchanan family x

First Class Accommodation

Excellent accommodation in and outstanding area of Tuscany, with easy access to the beach and only a short walk to the historic and beautiful town of Pietrasanta. The accommodation is in a quite part of Pietrasanta and has all of the fixtures and fittings you would expect to an extremely high standard, and air conditioned throughout. There is also a veranda where we enjoyed barbeques with outstanding views of the mountains. The bustling towns of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are only a short drive or cycle away, with late night shopping and a multitude of outstanding restaurants to choose from. At Viareggio we caught a train to Florence which is a must see destination and only about an hour on the train, but other historic locations are within easy reach such as Siena and Lucca. There really is too much to see in just a week. All I can really say is excellent accommodation, food and weather; cannot wait to come back. 10 out of 10

Simply the best....

Yet another fantastic holiday in this gorgeous villa, great weather, great food and great wine all add up to make this a favourite holiday destination. I’ve stayed here numerous times now and look forward all year to returning the next summer. The pictures of the Villa speak for themselves and with it’s close proximity to the beach and the old town of Pietrasantea this is an ideal base for the perfect relaxing break. For those who fancy going slightly further afield Florence is about an hour away which must be one of the most beautiful and cultural cities in Italy. If you fancy a trip to the Italian Riviera the resort of Portofino is not far away and is a must visit. All in all I can’t recommend this enough! Barny

Villa Dodi Review

We stayed at Villa Dodi in Pietrasantea for one week in June. Villa Dodi is a great property with a great backyard also. The rooms were spacious enough, very clean and well maintained. Every bedroom has its own bathroom which I found very convenient, especially if you are spending your vacation together with another fellow family ( in total: 4 adults and 4 kids). Also the support we experienced at Villa Dodi was excellent. Many thanks also for that! The location was only about 4 to 5 min away (by car) from the beach of Pietrasanta. For the price I would expect to have internet access (WLAN) which unfortunately is not installed in this property yet. Br.

overall good with some remarks: kitchendoor/locks some are broken same as for the doors for keeping bugs out. Missing a swimmingpool so you need to go to beach every day and some childrens playing material (not toys but a small house or similar). For this holiday home a car in a must Cleaning was not done very well Very well remained garden/lane Very enthusiastic people (Gianfranco and Oriana) who are always available for questions etc Recommend to hire bicycles (suggesting having them on site?) Would recommend it to family/friends and for bigger groups (8-10 people)

Perfect for us

My partner and I visited this villa in May 2010 along with my uncle and grandparents. The villa was not difficult to find, having flown in to Pisa airport. Plenty of parking available outside the villa, which was useful as we had 2 cars. In terms of the living space we found that it was perfect for our needs - offering a large kitchen with dining space as well as a very large open plan living and dining area. The decor was lovely and the overall impression was that of comfort and cleanliness. I would certainly recommend this villa to anyone, young or old as we all had a wonderful time and our ages range 60 years. Furthermore, the weather was not great during our stay but any time we did have to spend inside was time well spent. Highly recommended for people unable to climb stairs or with accesibility issues.

Lovely holiday to Villa Dodi

We had very nice time to beautiful Villa Dodi. The house is new, very clean and tasteful furnished. We enjoyed cooking in the modern kitchen, having al fresco dining under the veranda overlooking the manicured lawn. The rooms are large and have all big en suite bathrooms. Our kids enjoyed sleeping in the bedroom under the roof, cozy and neat. There are all the modern equipments, there is air condition in all the rooms unless we must say the house was fresh just keeping the shutters closed during the day. The beautiful beaches of Marina di Pietrasanta are a short bike ride away, we enjoyed pedaling to our "bagno" everyday and discover nice restaurant and cafes to the old town of Pietrasanta in the evening. The key older is very friendly and always helpful. We surely would return and would recommend the Villas for an unforgettable holiday to Versilia.

Highly Recommended

We have been lucky enough to have been on some fantastic holidays in beautiful parts of the world, staying in luxury accomodation; our holiday to Pietrasanta, staying in Villa Dodi (villa Lana is identical) has been added to the list! This is a lovely property, beautifully maintained. The villa was very comfortable and spotlessly clean with all the mod cons you would expect to find in a 5* accomodation. The property is ideally located for a beach holiday as well as the perfect base to explore Tuscany. We highly recommend this property to one and all. We look forward to our next stay!
