About this property

A shepherds hut that sleeps 2 guests in 1 bedroom

Yes, you've found it. The perfect place for your next couples' retreat; and we mean perfect. Private, quiet, beautifully equipped, and spacious; all set within an idyllic countryside location that is literally minutes away from cosmopolitan Exeter. Don't be fooled by this gorgeous hut's charm though. With all the amenities and extras you'd expect from a luxury boutique hotel (and more), this is glamping at its best; and while still authentic in its design, you'll have much more of the ‘glam' than the ‘camping' to look forward to.

Like underfloor heating, a fully equipped kitchen with electric hob, Belfast sink and breakfast bar, a modern shower room with heated towel rail, TV with built-in DVD player, Wi-fi, wood-burning stove, and of course a super comfy double bed complete with deep mattress and storage beneath. The setting is pretty special too. Tucked away in the meadow of a South Devon farm, the surrounding landscape is lush, picturesque and tranquil – and if that weren't idyllic enough, the hut overlooks the river Kenn as it meanders its way along the bottom of the garden. If you're looking for a spot to enjoy the views and fresh air, a private patio with outdoor dining and bubbling hot tub is just the place, while the addition of a charcoal BBQ (which doubles as a firepit) means you'll be able to relax in the sunshine while keeping an eye on lunch as it sizzles away.

There are terrific walks in the area as well as the lovely 13th Century Ley Arms pub where you can wine and dine your afternoons away however, Apple Blossom is also within striking distance of the South Hams with its long sandy beaches, tree-lined rivers, and of course towns like Totnes and Dartmouth just waiting to be explored. Within a 15-minute driving radius you can access the coast at Dawlish Warren or Teignmouth or hike the rugged tors and landscape of Dartmoor national park, or for something slightly more cosmopolitan, you can pop into Exeter for a dose of retail therapy and culture, and visit the charming town of Topsham (just 20 minute drive away) to browse independent boutiques, take afternoon tea and relish walks along the River Exe.

Relaxing and great location
We had a lovely stay at Apple Blossom highly recommend it to anyone that wants to get away and enjoy the peace and quiet in a remote location . The views were stunning and the location was quiet all we could hear were the birds . Our little dog enjoyed it too as she could roam around as it was all closed in . Looking forward to staying again in the near future . The flapjacks and fresh bread was a nice touch

Perfect luxury Getaway
A perfect little luxury getaway to relax and forget about the stresses of life. Great location only a short drive from Exeter, Dartmoor national park, and the quiet seaside town of Dawlish. Excellent local pub serving outstanding food and beer.

Excellent stay
Brilliant accommodation which was very comfortable and had everything we needed, especially the hot tub. Very accommodating for dogs, our lab Arlo loved his stay and enjoyed sniffing all the different plants around the outdoor/garden area. Lovely location with a very nice dog friendly pub/restaurant just a 2 minute walk away from the hut. Plenty to do within the area. Our favourite was the short drive down to Dawlish Warren to spend the day on the beach with the dog! Would certainly return here and have recommended to all our friends and family.

Beautiful setting, great accommodation
Lovely Shepherds hut in a beautiful setting. Not overlooked at all and very quiet. Fab hot tub. Just 5 mins walk to great pub. Accommodation quite small but that's what you get with a Shepherds hut !! Lots of handy storage though.

Amazing sheppard hut stay
We stayed here for our honeymoon. The property was amazing we had a private area with hot tub, outside dining area and firepit/bbq. The sheppards hut was amazing, a loaf of fresh baked bread, teas & coffee awaited us. The decor was clean and fresh. The whole stay was perfect for us, just wish we booked longer. The host was wonderful and friendly and very helpful with things to do or see in the local area. Highly recommended.

Even though the weather was terrible we still had a really nice time. The board games kept us entertained. The hot tub was just perfect, even in the rain! The accommodation had everything you could want and more. Will definitely be returning in the very near future. Ellie was absolutely fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. This is the the perfect place to get away and totally relax.

We had an amazing, relaxing time. Just what we needed. Very tranquil, lovely to hear the water and watch nature as we lay in the hammocks.

A week at Apple Blossom ( and boy, did it blossom!)
Overall fantastic, very private & felt exclusive. Giving us the perfect place to recharge & unwind. The hot tub was the ultimate attraction for moments of pure relaxation. Only interrupted by the squawking of a night owl on one occasion! The nearby pub,The Ley Arms was exceptional & we both felt a warm welcome on the first day of our arrival, hence we returned twice in the week to savour the culinary delights on the menu! Other than the excellent locality, we made the most of our visit & travelled to Watcombe Woods/Beach (lots of amazing historical features there), the NoBody Inn at Doddiscombsleigh (blew us away! Go there at Halloween as we did & you won’t forget it) the weather turning into torrential as Storm Ciaron approached, we were offered lodgings at that very late notice, but no! We made it home to Apple Blossom through the lanes, with no street lighting, road markings & intermittent Wi-Fi!!! Anyhow, the hot tub was waiting for us wasn’t it!!! All in all, a really fantastic break away, one which we would definitely be repeating.

Brilliant getaway for tranquil relaxation
Myself and my partner booked a stay for the 2nd week of October and we LOVED it! The hut itself was in immaculate condition and renovated with everything needed to have a comfortable stay. Inside you have a fully functioning kitchen, a nice bathroom and shower, along with a comfortable double bed and TV. Outside, the addition of a hot tub which was heated without fire, was impeccable as it meant at any time we fancied it, we could jump in and just relax. With this, the inclusion of two hammocks and also a BBQ/Fire pit was an added touch as it allowed us to make things like smores, which just added another level to the getaway. When first arriving at the hut, we had been welcomed with a selection of a few different goodies, such as a flapjack and some other locally made cakes, along with a fresh loaf of bread (we paid extra for) which was a really nice touch. They also included things like coffee pods for the Nespresso machine which was in the kitchen to allow us to have a nice coffee on a morning. As owners of a Nespresso machine, this was just a quality touch and gave us a feeling of home. Overall, the experience was very, very relaxing and was definitely somewhere we would recommend attending. We would even look to book again for the coming years and are going to recommend to other family members if they want a relaxing UK getaway. Would give this a 5 stars if i could rate it on that basis, however i have given 5 stars on every aspect above as i believe it warrants it.

8/10 Good

A cozy weekend away taking in the beautiful surroundings in this homely shepherds hut.
My partner & I really enjoyed our 3 night stay in Apple Blossom. The shepherds hut was incredibly clean & it was so lovely to have our own small space (including private parking!) in a quiet area within Kenn. The location was spot on, only a 10/15 minute drive to Exeter’s city centre, the only downside being no Ubers, as it is out of the way! But that didn’t cause much of a problem for us. There was a lovely local pub just a few minutes walk down the road, with more pubs just a short car journey away, and lots of opportunities to geocache! We thoroughly enjoyed using the preheated hot tub at night, star gazing on the seating in our private garden outside & just enjoying taking in the nature around us. The positioning of the hut was lovely. The hut was overlooking the adjacent fields, with a river running through the land next door, allowing you to wake up peacefully, to the calming sound of natural running water. We did have a small issue when we were there (out of anyone’s control), but the owners Elly & Mandy were extremely helpful in sorting out a solution, as quickly as possible, and helping us to get situated. After giving a phone call to explain we had arrived, we were quickly greeted by Elly, who gave us a small tour with some useful information about our stay, and she showed us how to use the well awaited hot tub! Elly & Mandy were extremely accommodating and did everything they could to make our stay as smooth & enjoyable as possible throughout. The loaf of fresh white bread from the nearby bakery was a homely & comforting touch! We can’t wait to visit again in may, in one of the other different accommodation types available. Thank you Elly & Mandy!
