Perfect Apartment, Perfect Location.
Two of us stayed in this wonderful apartment at the end of May, located in a converted palazzo from the 1600's, once the home of the exiled Stuart royal family. Today the building is mixed use with some restaurants on the ground floor, and businesses and apartments higher up. Our flat was adjacent to a law firm. We typically took the small elevator to the third floor and walked back down the grand marble staircases. The apartment was very clean and quiet, facing a courtyard, not the busy surrounding streets. The interior was recently updated with modern high-quality materials. While it was nearly 30C outside during the day, the apartment stayed cool. The rooms were spacious (photos in the listing do it justice), the beds were large, and there was plenty of closet space to properly unpack. The hosts were wonderfully attentive and very generously stocked the apartment with fruit, coffee, water, milk, and biscuits. We only shopped at a local grocery once and in a pinch, there is tiny convenience store on the ground floor. The location was fantastic. Most sights and restaurants were within a 15-20 minute walk. Places like the Vatican or Trastevere were easily reached by public bus, which now accept any credit card on board. Metro stations are nearby too. Of the countless nearby eateries, the Retrovino wine bar topped our list. Upon our departure our hosts arranged for a taxi and on an early Saturday morning we were back at the airport in 20 minutes.
