About this property
Cayenne Canopy, by Veeve
The difference that a masterful use of shape and colour can make is proven beyond all doubt in this one-of-a-kind, two-bedroom home. With its uniquely canopied dining room, dazzling prints, and sumptuous palette, there's something refreshing about the design here that brings a little exoticism to this sleepy street in South-West London. And with the mini oasis of Clapham Common just moments from your front door, complete with speedy Tube links to Central London — a romp into the city is as easy as relaxing on the patio. Your call, but we know where we'd rather be...
With an eye for design displayed in every corner, there’s plenty to admire here. The living room is all light-filled, vintage-style glamour, with soft tones, gilded mirror and ruched curtains. As with everything here though, there’s some signature flair interwoven through the artwork — plus that rather arresting, charcoal-coloured sculpture. In terms of vying for attention, the TV room jostles to the front with its striking, burnt umber interiors and intriguing wall hangings. Not to mention that rather irresistibly cushy-looking sofa, perfect for a few film nights in. And speaking of film, we think the set design Oscar should go to the dining room. Opening onto the garden and boasting a beautifully canopied ceiling, draped in elegant white folds that magnify the light pouring through the glass — you couldn’t ask for a more ambient spot. Throw in an airy kitchen, complete with breakfast bar, patio doors, and bonus snug area, and you may find eating out starts to lose its appeal. The principal bedroom boasts ample space, a sunshine-yellow ensuite, and a peppering of personality (that ostentatiously high-backed chair being our favourite); whilst the single room is smaller, but delightfully cosy and serenely mellow in yellow.
We love…
Everyone adores a pristine garden, especially one with perfectly preened flower beds, ivy-clad walls, and an al fresco-ready dining table. But the general design flair evinced, well, everywhere, edges it for us. It’s tricky to pick a favourite, but the gold-flecked bathroom with its uniquely textured stone basin is high on our list, as is the penchant for Moroccan-inspired prints.
Home Truths:
No smoking, pets or parties! This home is set over three floors with step access - the third floor will be closed off with no guest access. You'll find a laundry room downstairs, complete with washing machine and tumble dryer. The garden is summer-ready with sofa, table and BBQ. There's underfloor heating throughout, plus a gas fireplace for winter, and portable air-conditioning units available for summer. In the kitchen you'll find the chef's holy grail - an electric Aga.

Why they chose this property
A vibrant neighbourhood next to the river and it’s chic sister-neighbourhood of Chelsea, Battersea is home to one of London’s most beloved landmarks: Battersea Power Station. Now redeveloped into luxury flats, the surrounding areas in Battersea are transforming from sleepy-residential backwater to a lively hub for new pubs and restaurants. Battersea Park’s wonderful cultivated gardens and art gallery, The Pumphouse, remains something of a hidden gem in this part of London.
