This is an excellent base to explore the Northern Lakes and the west coast of Cumbria. The park is well maintained and peaceful, and you are a only 25-minute drive from Keswick. The village of Great Broughton is just a mile away with several pubs and a village shop. There is easy access to beautiful scenery, fantastic walks, and picturesque landscapes as well as being just a few miles from the vibrant market town of Cockermouth with an abundance of speciality shops, coffee houses, restaurants, and attractions.
Visit Wordsworth House for a spot of culture. Kirkgate Arts provides cinema and theatre performances. If you love the Lakes you are within easy reach of Bassenthwaite Lake with stunning scenery and an abundance of wildlife including red squirrels, buzzards and osprey to the east. Or drive south and you’ll reach Loweswater which connects to Crummock Water and Buttermere, arguably one of the most picturesque areas of Cumbria for its breathtaking scenery. This is a beautiful area to explore, and for family fun, a great day out can be had at The Lake District Wildlife Park with over 100 species of animals at Bassenthwaite, 10 miles, or Go Ape, a tree-top adventure at Whinlatter Forest, also home to some brilliant cycling trails, is just 9 miles.
