From such a privileged position, snuggled between two of Mallorca’s most esteemed sandy coves (Cala Mondragó and Cala S’Amarador), this resplendent country home is immersed in the pure, natural setting of the legendary Mondragó National Park, abundant in local fauna and shady pine trees that provide a welcomed respite from the midday sun.
This waterfront location is enhanced further, by two picturesque beaches literally on the doorstep: to one side a gentle 5 minute stroll is rewarded with the fine, white sands of Cala Mondragó, where crystalline, shallow waters afford the perfect milieu for snorkeling and tasty aromas drift from a small beach bar (chiringuito) set in the sand close by. A stroll in the opposite direction reveals the less frequented but equally stunning Cala S’Amarador. Sailboats and schooners drift in and out of the bay, to admire the panorama so fervently described by many guidebooks and preceding travelers. Both beaches fly the prestigious Blue Flag Award for their clean waters, are wheelchair friendly with a lifeguard on duty during high season.
The gentle resonance of the sea lapping against this rocky enclave sets the tone for this retreat - one of relaxation, as the pace of life is shifted down a notch or two, abundant fresh, sea air is served with a generous portion of far-reaching views hard to surpass. Narrow, shrub lined paths meander through the spacious grounds, converging on a charming, crazy paved terrace monopolising spectacular views across the shallow bay, blended with the embrace of a cool sea breeze.
The front facade, characteristic of the region, consists of solid stone archways and symmetric cornerstones, whilst wooden shutters provide the trimmings to this delightful vista, the central focus naturally falls on the large wooden door that leads to an imposing entrance hall. Inside, spacious bedrooms and capacious areas for the group to congregate provide a pleasant holiday vibe in which to unwind. A recent refurbishment of the interior has created a stunning transformation throughout, incorporating four poster beds, vibrant coloured and textured fabrics plus a splash of chic with raffia and distressed wood finishes. Three double bedrooms have en suite shower facilities whilst the two twin bedrooms each have a separate adjacent shower room, all with integrated air conditioning as well as the lounge, An expansive roof top sun terrace is furnished with comfortable seating for either basking in the rays or chilling out whilst immersing oneself in a latest best seller or indeed catching up on social media news.
The historic town of Santanyi, with fortified city wall and gate (Porta Murada) is a Foodie’s Paradise, mingled with art galleries, cobbled streets, shady plazas and boutique shopping, whilst the bustle of the weekly market is in sharp contrast to the chillout aura of Finca Mondragó S’Amarador, just minutes away.
The string of rocky coves and sandy inlets that run along the south east coast of this diverse island are all within easy reach: a boat trip to the island of Cabrera, horse riding along the sandy paths of the nature reserve or following one of its popular hiking trails. A short stroll across the beach will lead you to a local bus stop, connecting with a wide network that includes the resort of Cala d'Or and Palma (this service operates May - October) - there’s more than enough to keep the active entertained and the chilled contented - one would certainly be forgiven, should your only trip out be to the nearest supermarket in order to stock up the fridge before settling down in your own 'mini mirador'. (What's more, if it’s just fresh bread and croissants for breakfast that’s needed, Maria the housekeeper is happy to bring them over in the morning.).
Property Licence No. ETV/1272 Due to easy access to the sea, young children must be supervised at all times. As this location is in a nature reserve, it is prohibited to light fires.
Please note that in addition to the property rental there is a local tourist tax to pay for all visitors aged 16 and over. €2.00 (€2.20 incl. IVA) (£2) per night for the first 9 nights, €1.00 (€1.10 incl. IVA) (£1) per night for each night thereafter per person. We will add this amount to your booking.
