As described on the site, very suitable for a couple, very friendly owners in a perfect location, just 5 minutes drive from the beach which has toilets, a bar and a snack trailer from which we had some lovely lunches.
Very enjoyable stay and very friendly hosts. The unit had everything we needed for cooking as we like to cook our own meals. We also really liked the pool. Very refreshing. Thank you Jan and Guy 😁
Arranged a trip at short notice and the owners could not have been more helpful. The accomodation is effectively an annexe to their lovely villa, in beautiful landscaped grounds, backing on to Sandy Lane Golf Course. It was very well equipped and only a short drive to Holetown andmany top class restaurants. About 20 min walk down the hill to Payne's Beach and the Coast. We enjoyed the use of the pool and hardly saw the owners, although they were there when you needed them. Will be back.
The five star reviews for this property are totally deserved, it really lives up to its billing. Very comfortable, furnished to a high standard with good facilities and a decent sized pool exclusively for the use of guests. Guy, the owner, was very welcoming and accommodating and gave us lots of useful information. In a beautiful setting, located in a quiet cul de sac, a great location for exploring the island. Plenty of wildlife and birds in the pretty garden too.
A good sized supermarket (called Massy) which stocked a lot of Waitrose products within a few minutes drive. Payne's Bay is the closest beach a few mins by car but it lacks places to eat/facilities. Nice beach but there are better beaches up and down the west coast. We found some decent restaurants in the Holetown area. Parking in March was pretty easy and free too.
We stayed for 27 nights in November 2023. Our decision to book was influenced by the extremely positive reviews, and the apartment met expectation.
The pluses for us were a comfortable settee and bed (not always the case in rentals), and decent shower.
The real positives were the location and grounds. Being attached to a large house in a residential, upmarket location meant that we benefited from the large grounds, the well planted garden. The greenery and space made it something special. We ate in the gazebo, or just chilled there and it was a lovely, relaxing and comfortable place to be.
The sole use of the pool was a real plus.
The owners, like other have said, were available and helpful when needed and unobtrusive when not. It was only Guy who hosted us and he did a tremendous job.
The location of the apartment is great. It’s just a short drive to Holetown, and there are several restaurants/takeouts, a fish market and beach conveniently at the bottom of the road, so you can have the best of both worlds, peace and quiet and easy access to shops/beach/food.
It felt very safe and secure. The fence and padlocks on gates etc would deter.
Overall it was an excellent stay, very relaxing and enjoyable and we hope to return in the future
The apartment lived up to its 100% 5* reviews in every aspect. We loved it. Jan and Guy were super hosts being attentive to their guests’ needs without ever intruding upon our privacy. From their warm welcome complete with a bottle of homemade rum punch and another of milk waiting in the fridge, to our somewhat fraught departure owing to a cancelled flight, they could not have been more helpful.
The apartment is very well maintained and everything scrupulously clean. The provision of everything needed for cooking was excellent and we were delighted to have the use of a barbecue which could also function as an outdoor oven. We loved sitting on the terrace for all our meals and enjoyed a fabulous show of fireflies, birdsong, the night-time sound of the frogs as well as the appearance of a monkey strolling down the fence. The pool is as lovely as it looks.
The apartment is very well situated for exploring all the island and so we were most grateful to have the use of garden chairs and a very good parasol. It meant that we could go to any beach and we found some truly beautiful places to relax. Holders is a good place to be. We enjoyed the local Sunday market and also spending a Saturday afternoon watching polo. We felt that the apartment helped to give us a real insight into Barbados. No review can capture the atmosphere of a place so I can only recommended that readers of this review go and enjoy it for themselves.
Außergewöhnlich gut und sehr schön eingerichtet. Toller Pool. Absolut ruhige Lage. Stühle für den Strand sind da. Alles picobello sauber. Hilfsbereite freundliche Gastgeber.
Could not ask for more great location and the property is fab. As far as we are concerned this is perfect.

Extremely happy with our stay
We enjoyed the great hospitality and company from Jan and Guy. Their cottage is extremely comfortable and equipped with everything one could wish for (even a swizzle stick thanks Jan) it’s very quiet and pleasant to sit in comfort and watch the evening sky with fire flies and the odd bat fly past. We cannot speak highly enough of everything thanks again Jan and Guy and hope to see you again in the not toooo distant future

Great retreat
Great location near the fabulous west coast beaches and restaurants . Guy and Jan are wonderful host who can provide lots of info on things to do and places to go but respect your privacy and provide access to their lovely pool and gardens It is a bit of a walk up and down the hill to the beach. I would suggest renting a car even for a few days to explore the beautiful island. I also join the chorus to champion Jan’s rumpuch made from the limes grown in the garden. We had a lovely quiet relaxing stay at Allamanda.

Beautiful and Relaxing
My wife and I stayed at Allamanda for one week in March, 2018. The property is just as pictured. It was one of the most relaxing places we have stayed in our travels anywhere. The home backs onto a green space and sides onto a vacant lot. The pool and patio are great. While the apartment is attached to the main home we rarely saw or heard the owners...except when we sought them out for always helpful advice. This property is a five minute drive or 20 minute walk to the west coast beach....add 10 minutes to walk to Holetown centre for shopping and restaurants.... suggest renting a car if you wish to do some touring of the island. We definitely recommend this property for a beautiful and quiet location on the west coast of Barbados. We hope to return again. Thanks Jan and Guy!

Perfect place for a relaxing holiday
We can't fault the property, - clean and well equipped - the welcoming hosts and the quiet location. Be aware that it's at the top of Holders Hill so approx. 20 mn. uphill walk from Paynes Bay but there are plenty of taxis @ BBD30 approx - and there's a prettier but longer walk to and from the beach via the golf course. We hired a car for 3 days to explore further afield but also used buses which are frequent along the coast road and cheap but entail a change in Bridgetown. There is a less frequent bus service to Bridgetown from the top of Holders Hill. We had a great time and can thoroughly recommend this property.

A pristine annex in a perfect location
The property is ideally placed to reach all around the island and being close to the west coast beaches is more than ideal. The property is in perfect condition and equipped to an exceedingly high standard. The owners could not be more friendly or helpful

Perfect place to stay with lovely owners who live on site.
We have just got home from a 2 week stay at this property. What a wonderful place to stay. Very clean with great added extras, everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. We are already looking at staying again. The owner's Jan and Guy are lovely kind people who made sure everything was prefect. Thank you.

As relaxing as it gets......
Don't know where to start.......if I could think of a single negative thing about this lovely property I probably wouldn't mention it - simply because nothing could possibly detract from the perfection. Location - quiet, secure and beautiful. Apartment - supremely comfortable, well equipped, elegantly decorated. Pool - aaaaaaah. Hosts - generous, helpful and just very, very nice people! And I know people keep mentioning Jan's rum punch but they aren't kidding.......it's the best we tasted in over 2 weeks on the island.

A foretaste of paradise of you like peace and quiet and nature from a spotless home-from-home
Spent a heavenly fortnight at Allamanda over Easter 2017
This wing of an upmarket private house, backing onto golf links, is peaceful, spotless, comfortable & well-equipped, inc good Wifi.
We loved:
Eating every meal (reading & playing dominoes) on the veranda in the company of little lizards, cheeky finches & bananaquits; watching humming birds in the hibiscus & jacaranda; occasional monkeys; absence of mozzies; distant sunsets over the Caribbean; fireflies & bats at dusk & then shooting-stars in an inky-sky free of light-pollution. One day a lazy caterpillar pupated overnight by the pool & we were treated to the emergence of a beautiful orange Gulf Fritillary butterfly. It really was a taste of paradise.
Jan and Guy, the owners, are so welcoming yet unobtrusive & Jan's Rum Punch, using limes from the garden, is to die for - a real treat in the fridge.
We were fine without a hire-car for 10 days, walking 20 minutes down (and up) (busy) Holder's Hill, or more experimentally across the golf course and through Sandy-Lane dream-homes, to the beach (ace snorkelling at Folkestone Reserve) or frequent West Coast buses (only £1 a journey). You can easily walk to the Polo ground for a splendid afternoon's entertainment. We enjoyed car hire for 3 days at the end to explore the other coasts - don't miss Hunte's Gardens, lunch at Bathsheba's Atlantic Hotel & Atlantic waves pounding the northern tip of the island. We were early to arrive & leave Oistin's Fish Friday & enjoyed it before it became boisterous. Easter Sunday at St Peter's in Speightstown was a cast of thousands & haze of incense with flowers to rival Chelsea; we loved that & the Gallery of Caribbean Art. But avoid Juma restaurant; surly service, mediocre food & outdated prices displayed. Best meal by far was at The Fish Pot but we also had a generous, tasty, cheaper lunch alongside locals at Just Grillin in Sunset Crest by Holetown.
Food is expensive thanks to exchange rate but Holetown supermarket runs a courtesy bus back to the door.
Who would Allamanda not suit? Party animals wanting nearby night life, restaurants, bars or all-day beach-babes. And there's a (locked) door from the bedroom to the owner's house, prob just to a utility room - but those who like noisy bedroom 'conversations' might feel inhibited.
For us it was a foretaste of paradise; classy, peaceful R&R & if we visit lovely Barbados again we'd book here in a heartbeat; if it's available - perhaps we should have kept quiet!

Could Not Have Hoped For More
This property is clean, well equipped (including a great selection of DVD's and tourist guides) and very comfortable. The views are beautiful as is the island. The hosts Guy and Jan were extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about Barbados. There are several beautiful walks within a stone's throw of the property and a gym just around the corner. The local beach is just one of many stunning beaches within a short distance. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Perfect setting for a relaxing vacation.
A good experience from beginning to end. Excellent communication during the booking stage. The (very) detailed arrival directions ensured that we found the property with no problem and we were met by Jan and Guy as we opened the car doors. The property is ideally located for visiting all parts of the island without encountering the heavy traffic on the coat roads. The apartment was well equipped for our need and the bed was very comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the shade of the lanai reading and watching the birds and occasional monkey. We found Masseys' at Warrens to be the best for everyday shopping and for coffee the Coffee Bean at the plaza adjoining Cost U Less takes a bit of beating. If you have a satnav (gps) it is well worth loading the free road maps of the island from BajanNav.
We would have booked for the same time next year but it was already booked.
