About this property

Long Roods Cottage, Monsal Head, near Bakewell

Set in a beautiful rural location in the countryside above the picturesque village of Ashford-in-the-Water, the cottage is ideally situated to enjoy the best of the Peak District. Built with all the mod cons such as underfloor heating, fast WiFi, smart TV and DVD player, the accommodation boasts private parking, 3 spacious bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, as well as a large kitchen, living and dining area with exposed beams, and views across to the Chatsworth Estate.
The space
Outside, there is plenty of parking, and the large private garden has a large seating area, with barbeque and fire pit. The Peak District is the destination of choice for walkers, cyclists, climbers and cavers who can enjoy the dramatic landscape of the moors, and the peace of the valleys. There are many good local pubs within easy walking distance. Do contact us ahead of your stay for recommendations!

The cottage is furnished with a mix of antique and modern furniture, modern bathrooms, a smart TV DVD player, free WiFi, and is well stocked with books, games and DVD’s.

Global warming is an important issue, so we're trying to be as green as we can; we've recently installed 47kWh of solar capacity, and there is also underfloor heating throughout, powered by an eco friendly air source heat pump. The cottage is also double glazing.

Downstairs, you enter from your own private drive to the hallway, which has coat hanging and boot storage. There is a large open plan kitchen/dining and sitting room with south-facing windows and bi-fold doors opening onto a large patio area. There is a modern, newly fitted kitchen with an AGA range, American fridge freezer and built in oven and microwave. The cottage provides cooking essentials, such as oil, condiments, sugar etc. There is a Tassimo Bosch coffee machine, as well as all the cooking equipment we think you'll need. The dining area will seat 6, and the living area has plenty of comfortable seating and exposed ceiling beams. The cottage is fully stocked with books and DVD's.

On the ground floor are two double bedrooms with 2 wetrooms.
Upstairs the third bedroom has exposed beams and a double bed. The en -suite is spacious, and there are beautiful views across to Little Longstone.
The beds are modern, pocket sprung and comfortable and the linen is all Egyptian cotton.

All three bathrooms are newly fitted, with lovely marble floor to ceiling tiles. There are heated towel rails in each, and plenty of hot-water is available on demand.

Outside, the garden extends to ¼ of an acre, and is laid to grass, with a beech hedge, and with a path to the front door. A large garden table will easily accommodate 6 people, and there are six very comfortable sun loungers to relax on. The garden is surrounded by trees, including walnut and pear, with views across to both Chatsworth Estate and Sheldon Dale.

Electric vehicle charging is available if arranged directly with the host. We can also arrange for groceries to be delivered to you for your stay, and there is a great local sourcing service which supplies a variety of local produce and local ales. Just get in touch, and we'll sort it out for you.

The property was like a hotel inside a vacation rental. It was beautifully furnished, with personal touches, and was cozy and quiet. A perfect stay for a small family. The hosts, Anne and Patrick, were welcoming, kind, and attentive. They were incredibly generous and made for a perfect holiday. I would go back in a heartbeat!
