La Peñiga estate is an exceptional place. We offer an estate of 35,000 m² conceived, designed, created and built with great care over a long process of more than 30 years, where at any time of the year you visit it, you will always find a spectacular section of the estate as it is designed to enjoy it in the 4 seasons of the year.
The estate is a real arboretum, with a great variety of tree species (purple beeches, American oaks, sequoias, cedars, liquidambar, red maples, chestnut trees...), and flowering plants at different times of the year. Here you can contemplate a succession of four landscaped ponds where you can rest and enjoy the views, stroll through a bamboo forest or embrace impressive sequoias.
You can take an orderly tour of the estate or get lost in it... We offer you the chance to stay in an American-style wooden house full of light, large windows and a spectacular porch to enjoy the Peñiga in all its majesty.
La Peñiga Estate
Located in a strategic place of our farm is the house where you can stay with all luxury of comforts. It is a 2-storey wooden house, full of light, with large windows and located in an environment.... dreamy! Designed in an American style, it offers everything necessary to ensure the rest of our guests in the middle of nature.
It has a surface area of more than 300 square metres distributed in 4 bedrooms, 3 complete bathrooms, kitchen and 3 living rooms, one of them with a fireplace. A large part of the house has large windows offering spectacular views of the estate.
It has a large porch furnished and designed to offer a differentiating experience to the most demanding guests.

About forty years ago I used to spend my summers in a residence in the Cantabrian village of Mazcuerras. The La Peñiga estate was on the hilly slopes outside the village, and I was always particularly attracted to it because of its wonderful trees, which I later learned were due to the fact that the estate had originally been a nursery. In the 1980s, when I heard that it was for sale, I rushed to buy it. It should be noted that when I did so, it was just a hill, with a small stone wintering ground that we still have.
La Peñiga had the two requirements I considered necessary to make a great garden: the slope and the water.
I began by planting the trees of the species I was most interested in, and at the same time I started, with the invaluable help of a great friend, the construction of the first phase of our current wooden house.
During the following years, my wife and I made a series of trips to England and the United States, visiting their great gardens. And with all the information gathered, we began the first plantings and the construction of the ponds, and at the same time the extension of the house.
La Peñiga had the two requirements I considered necessary to make a great garden: the slope and the water.
