About this property

North Georgia's Best Kept Secret! Spacious Serene Cabin Near It All!

As the owner, I realize I am partial, but I honestly believe my home and location grants anyone the perfect North Georgia mountain escape. Nestled in a gated community known as North Georgia's Best Kept Secret, you cannot beat the location. Enjoy the serenity and protection of the neighborhood and it's amenities, which include lakes, the pool, horses, boats, and much, much more.

The house is large and spacious, with 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths. The decks and porches run the length of the house, allowing you the opportunity to enjoy an excellent view of the mountains and all the wildlife as the neighborhood is also a wildlife preserve.

Helen and all its offerings are 10 minutes away, as is Unicoi State Park.

My home has rental restrictions as defined and enforced by the neighborhood HOA. Please contact me if you're interested to discuss restrictions.

We rented on very short notice and everything was in place and ready when we got there.

Beautiful scenery on the way up to house. Woke up and looked out the door to some big deer grazing. A mama and 2 yearlings hung out in the yard. Everything was great. The home was just the right size for us. The owner was very friendly and in touch with me regularly.

Helen house

House is in need of a lot of maintenance. Picture on site are 5 years old so not accurate. Location is great to explore area. Helen and hiking awesome. Could have been cleaner too

Doesn’t quite sleep 12... but otherwise ok

Only clarification would be that house doesn’t actually sleep 12. We couldn’t find a pull out couch and beds sleep a total of 8. Thankfully we had an air mattress! Upstairs very cozy, downstairs less so.

Great Mountain Getaway

Really nice get away house in the Appalachians and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the grind. Perfect for multiple families/groups and only 15 mins from Helen.

Helen Georgia

Absolutely great place to stay during your visit to Helen Georgia. The property is well secured on a very well established Subdivision. Worth the money!

Lovely location and lots of space

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home was a bit crowded with the owners' possessions and furniture and so it was difficult to find places to put our own clothes and food. There were also some basic things missing like enough plates for the number of people who are able to sleep in the property and a cork screw. The internet service was great (phone was spotty but better than other homes in the neighborhood) and we loved the amenities of the neighborhood including the walking trails, especially the hikes to the clubhouse and the waterfall. It would have been nice to have some instructions about where we were staying including details about the house (I had to keep texting to find out things) and about the neighborood (maps to hiking trails, local restaurants, etc). Beds were incredibly comfortable with high quality sheets. Overall would love to come back but would like more fridge and pantry space!

Property condition not as advertised - shoulda been a contender

This unhappy experience could have been easily avoided had the property owner been upfront about the renovations in progress during the week of our scheduled stay. When we arrived, none of the downstairs bedrooms or bathrooms had doors on them; floor tile and carpeting were unfinished; power cords and tools cluttered the hallways, etc. The kitchen and the livingroom upstairs were roomy and nice...if one can ignore the large ceiling fan and kitchen light fixtures dangling overhead by exposed wiring. When we opened up the lid to the coffeemaker to add water, filter and coffee grounds, we found the internals buried in a half-inch bed of mold feasting on ancient coffee grounds that had obviously been left there for weeks. (Apparently, the cleaning crew and the renovation workers only use the Keurig). There's much more, but let's just say that after a brief family conference, I notified the owner of the main deficiencies, forwarding pictures as evidence, and offered to tolerate the deficiencies for the week as long as some sort of prorated adjustment was offered and at least the doors installed on Tuesday (it's Memorial Day weekend, after all). His immediate reply, after some initial snarkiness, promised he would return a full refund if we vacated the property immediately -- that's his only offer. So, by a small miracle and a lot of hasty websearches, we found another place to stay on short notice (adding a devastating hit to our vacation budget) and finished the week elsewhere in a non-VRBO cabin that actually matched its online description. We have stayed in several VRBO properties in the past with good satisfaction; this was our first disappointment, which, after notifying VRBO's complaint department and the owner of our intention to pursue legal action to recover our losses, a full refund was finally received. Key points to remember: this property, once renovations are complete and a thorough interior and exterior cleaning accomplished, will easily rate 4.5 of 5 stars or higher. Also, if you or a family member have any pet allergies, be aware that large pets have resided here (we do not own pets) and our son-in-law reacted badly to whatever set of critters preceded us. Lastly, in dealing with property owner, I recommend you exercise increased due diligence (trust but verify, verify, and re-verify), well in advance to avoid repeating our unhappy experience.

Beautiful home, gorgeous location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The home was ideal for our Thanksgiving group. Thanks to the owner's efforts, we had beds and linens for all twelve of us. He even had space heaters delivered so we were toasty during the chilly weekend, and contacted us periodically to make sure we had everything we needed. Wonderful stay, and highly recommended.

Beautiful setting and very close to Helen and Unicoi State Park

Sleeps 8 comfortably, but not recommended for large groups or for anyone allergic to dogs. Unit was clean and in good condition.

Very nice property

The owner was very responsive whenever we had questions. He responded within 15 minutes. The house has a beautiful view. It worked well for us because we had family in another property in the same community. The pool and tennis courts are very nice. We also enjoyed canoeing.
