Nice home, has many amenities. Home is easy to get to, area is good. Kids had fun playing ping pong and hot tub was nice. Hot water in kitchen is a trickle and takes about 5 minutes to get hot, we ended up using the kettle to heat up water to wash dishes. The mattresses in the 2 bed bedroom were tough to sleep on we could feel the springs when on them. Also, make sure to be very clear on the trash policy and dumping places. Others than that everything was good.
My husband and I and our two little kids travel to Tennessee & North Carolina every year for Thanksgiving with our family. We absolutely LOVED this location and the house. It was beautiful, stocked with everything we needed and plenty of towels, bedding, etc. one of our favorite parts of the house was the neat master bedroom’s giant bathroom and closet! Kathy was an awesome host and very timely on responding to any questions we had. We will definitely stay there again and recommend others too also! The beds were also comfortable! Thank you Brown family!!
We absolutely loved staying here! My only complaint are the beds. Everyone in my group said the same thing. The beds were not good. Again every thing else was absolutely wonderful.
Family of 7 - last trip before oldest kids go off to college. Home was very clean and kitchen was well stocked for cooking including a crock pot! Whole family loved the running stream, which we visted often during our stay. Kids loved the ping pong, Foosball, and air hockey table. There are also other board games in the unit that we played as well. The trip up to the cabin is beautiful and was easy to access (we were in a minivan and had no issues.) My husband and I loved sitting on the upperdeck and drinking coffee. The main floor is handicap accessible and includes the master bedroom and bathroom, half bath, livingroom with fireplace, kitchen, and laundry room which worked great for me since i'm disabled. Home was perfect, highly recommend.
We really enjoyed our stay. This house was perfect for our family vacation. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything that you will need. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. The house was clean and comfortable. We even got to see a little chipmunk eat corn!!! We loved this house!
This house was just what we needed for a retreat for our small church youth group. The house became even more valuable when rain washed out most of our outdoor plans.
Very peaceful! Plenty of room for the younger kids to play and room for the older kids to hangout.. House isn’t completely handicap assessable, however the first floor is, so my father-in-law was able to come as well!
We all had a great time Loved the location and the property location In. The mountain.Property was great beds where all very stiff for our liking but other than that house was perfect…
My friends and I had a lovely long weekend here full of snowy fun. I would highly recommend paying attention to the parking instructions since that helped ensure none of our cars got stuck in snow. The was the perfect home base for skiing all day and they coming home to a nice soak in the hot tub! We had a great trip and Kathy was quick to respond to any question we had.
We stayed in December and it was beautiful and cold (low 20s) with no snow yet. Location is about an hour to an hour and a half from most of the popular destinations, but the drives are interesting and beautifully scenic. House is clean, very home-like, and well stocked with housewares and we loved that.
I would say that the downstairs area with foldout couches doesn’t have central heat and stays chilly if it’s really cold out despite the stand alone radiant heater. The fold out couches downstairs are the “normal” type with thin mattresses and probably only suitable for little/light kids or in a pinch. Wouldn’t want an adult to have to sleep on the fold outs for a week in my opinion. The checkout preparations are more intense than some places so read them carefully. The road is steep so if there is much snow… 4wd needed. Overall, we loved the place and would totally go back again. Area is gorgeous and quiet. We didn’t want to leave.
Beautiful large home that my family loved. We get away every year to gather together. The ping pong table was a big win for the family and the air hockey was a bonus too. I enjoyed the large downstairs area with the three couches and full bathroom. The kids took to that for sure. Plenty of room for everyone . We definitely were not used to the mattresses as they are on their last limb. The only issue we had was with the trash. I haven’t done a rental where we were responsible for all the trash to be disposed of away from property. With it being Christmas time the convenience center was closed and so we had to pay 5 dollars a bag to leave it at the rental or take it with us. We tried to take it but with a family of 8 and opening Christmas presents we had lots of stuff so we had to leave 6 bags at 5 a piece. Seemed kind of pricey . Overall my kids adored the home and the creek and of course ping pong and we appreciate you sharing it with us.
The house was very homey and well provisioned. We enjoyed the game room downstairs and the outside hot tub during our visit. The porch / deck has a nice over-look down to the creek below. We went some place each day to get outside as they’re isn’t any hiking near the property as everything is private property. The only hassle we had was hauling all the trash/recycles down to town to discard as there is no trash pickup in them mountains. Nonetheless, we would come back again for sure.
The house was great we had plenty of room for 6 adults there a few things to be improved on the beds in the 3rd bedroom in my opinion are very hard and uncomfortable and make noises when you are moving. Great kitchen and living area everything you would need for your large family great play room downstairs from main floor and two bedrooms upstairs, lots of stairs. all in all great house. FYI not motorcycle friendly just my opinion. Thanks Kathy for sharing your home .
This listing was everything that was advertised and more. We did not have any issues and it was very clean and spacious. The game room was wonderful to have with the kids when it was raining. Absolutely loved this place!
Great time with family. Beautiful setting. Did lose electricity one day after a storm for a good part of the day due to a tree falling on a wire, but weather was cool and comfortable anyway.
We very much enjoyed our time here. It rained just about every day we were there, so having a comfy place with activities was ideal. Loved the privacy and the feel of being secluded in the woods, but still close enough to town. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home.
The house itself was FANTASTIC and exceeded our expectations. Since most of our party arrived on motorcycles, we only had to bring our clothes/personal items; the house was equipped with all needed linens and kitchen items. The hot tub was on point. The front porch was great, we used it well. The bird and squirrel feeders offered much entertainment watching the birds, squirrels, and the occasional raccoon.
The property entrance (driveway) was another matter, it is on an incline at the beginning of a curve, this was a left turn with an immediate left turn onto the property (basically it was a U turn that was slightly uphill) and it was gravel. Getting onto the property was not as anxiety inducing as trying to get out of the driveway and onto the road, I'm guessing because it was on a down hill grade plus the gravel. There was not much room for turning a truck/trailer around, but we managed and got it backed down the paved portion of the driveway. In the end, we had a great time with only one major problem that called for medical assistance & the medical personnel had absolutely no trouble maneuvering the ambulance in or out of the driveway. Most of our party are pretty experienced (10 to 20 years) riders and they've ridden in the mountains before; i was the least experienced with only 3 years riding and thankfully I was ride a trike. I would definitely stay here again, but maybe not ride up on the motorcycle. (PS: the individual with the emergency is doing OK & was able to ride their motorcycle for the remaining trip & back home).
Check in was seamless, just get the key from the lockbox and that's it. The 3 floors were perfect for girls upstairs and boys downstairs. Always a bathroom accessible and the big table was perfect for nightly devotions with supper. The kids lived in the "man cave" with all the games and the hot tub. Perfect for dipping into the freezing creek and running to the hot tub (for atleast the boys). Everyone had a separate place to sleep (except the hubs and me). The beds were comfy and the blankets were cozy. We were close to skiing, tubing and saw the elks in Cataloochie and Cherokee.. Thank you for allowing us to share your home.
We had a great stay. It snowed way more than we anticipated. A 4*4 is needed if it snows. We had problems getting out in our suv, but the owner was very nice and helpful and offered another night if we needed to stay. She stayed in contact with us with the salt truck and scrapers. Our family will definitely stay there again just maybe not when it snows over a foot.

We are a couple who loves the mountains and are goal is to retire there soon. Maggie Valley has always had great memories for me, as my grandparents took me there every year when I was a child. I always told my husband when we could build a retirement home, it would be there. I hope that my grandchildren have as many fond memories as we do. Every time we visit, there is something new to see or do. We enjoy riding motorcyles with our friends through all the great rides in the area.
Why they chose this property
We built this home because my grandparents always took us to Maggie Valley, NC when we were kids and I have continued that summer vacation with my kids and now my grandchildren. I have always said if the opportunity was available, we would definitely build in NC. I am truly blessed with being able to live that dream.
What makes this property unique
We are close to Asheville, Gatlinburg, TN, Nantalahala, and Cherokee. You are no more than 45 minutes in any direction. We are just up the road from the national park and love to drive up to see the elks in the evening. Nothing beats having your meals on the front porch listening to the sound of the creek.
