This contemporary Scandinavian-style lodge is set in a truly stunning rural location in the rolling Pembrokeshire meadows and midway between the hamlet of Llanrhian and the picture postcard coastal hamlet of Porthgain. It’s only a 5-minute meandering walk from your lodge down into beautiful Porthgain – a historic harbour rich with its heritage in granite and slate manufacture dating back to the 1890s. In Porthgain you will find a welcoming local pub ‘The Sloop Inn’ and an award-winning bistro ‘The Shed’ specialising in locally caught fresh fish, perfect after enjoying a busy day out walking the coastal path. There are also two galleries displaying excellent local artwork.
The Pembrokeshire coastal path is a few minutes’ walk from the lodge and provides incredible scenery and walks. The unspoilt Traeth Llyfn beach is less than a mile along the path and there are many beaches accessible along this stretch of rugged coast including spectacular Whitesands, the well-known surfing beach near St David’s. Adventure activities such as sea kayaking and coasteering are very popular along this stunning coastline and the impressive Blue Lagoon at Abereiddy is a popular spot to visit.
Cwm Gain boasts underfloor heating and a raised terrace with views across the valley and stream below. The large open-plan kitchen, dining and living room are perfect for those nights when you want to relax with a good movie or a board game. You can also enjoy an early morning coffee on the decking and listen to the host of birdlife on your doorstep. Patio doors lead off from the open-plan living area to a raised veranda where you can dine alfresco. All three bedrooms have been well furnished and finished to a very good standard with comfort and a good night’s sleep in mind.
Just a 15-minute drive away lies the famous city of St David’s, Britain’s smallest city, at the most westerly point of Wales. It boasts a 12th-century cathedral and medieval ruins of the Bishop’s Palace that you can explore. There are also many art galleries, gift shops, and a good choice of restaurants and traditional pubs specialising in local produce. From here you can take a trip to Ramsey Island and take a sea safari expedition around the offshore island, cruising close to seabirds, seals and the occasional bottlenose dolphin, a fantastic day out. Oakwood, Wales’ largest theme park, is a fun day out for all the family and is located only 40 minutes away, or for those with younger families, be sure to visit Folly Farm Zoo where you can see rhinos, giraffes and even lions!
