We are closed for the season but we kick off the 2025 season in May and it runs to the end of October (2 night minimum). Three night minimum for Memorial Day Weekend, Fourth of July Weekend, and Labor Day Weekend. NO MORE THAN 2 GUESTS - SEE HOUSE RULES. If there is a third guest, we need to know ahead of time. NOTE: We will continue to sanitize knobs, handles, hard surfaces, toilet, shower, TV remote, switches, etc. to ensure the utmost cleanliness. We also provide hand sanitizer for our guests use. Welcome to "The Martin House of Lakeville". Decompress & reconnect with your family, a loved one, a friend, or nature in this lakefront property on beautiful O'Dells Lake (100 acres). The front yard is a peninsula that juts out in the lake. Great views from the front porch, deck and yard. This is an ideal location minutes to Mohican State Forest, Loudonville, Amish destinations and so much more. You can fish from the front yard or BRING YOUR OWN KAYAK OR CANOE AND LIFE JACKETS. No swimming or wading permitted from our property. Wonderful birdwatching. This property is tranquil, quiet, and relaxing. We have kept the charm of a lake cottage built in the 1930's. This property is ideal for a couple (no additional daytime or nightime guests allowed) having two bedrooms - one with a newer Queen bed with 3" memory foam topper and the other bedroom having one twin bed and one full bed. There is a gravel parking area right by the back door.
There's a small dock. There is no public boat ramp or access to the lake which really limits watercraft traffic. Even on weekends there's very little boat traffic. We have an area where you can put in your kayak, canoe or rowboat (WE DO NOT PROVIDE ANY TYPE OF WATERCRAFT OR LIFEJACKETS) and the lake has a 9.9 hp limit. You may have to step down into your watercraft depending on the level of the lake at the time. The lake offers good fishing and fantastic birdwatching. The fish include bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, an occasional pike, carp and more. Birds you may see include osprey, bald eagles, lots of hummingbirds and woodpeckers, green herons and great blue herons, nuthatches, titmouse, cormorants, and so much more. There is a submerged island that you can pull up to and take a dip. No swimming from the property. O'Dell Lake is a natural glacial lake fed in part by artesian springs. There's a deck, patio, and corkscrew willow tree next to the dock. All offer shade depending on the time of day. There is a new fire pit down by the water. You need to bring your own firewood but it has to be from Holmes County - there is a bait shop that sells firewood just a few minutes away. We supply a grill with propane, 40" HDTV with ROKU, DVD and free WIFI. You will find coffee, tea, bottled spring/purified water, an assortment of herbs and spices, and some condiments (ketchup, mustard, etc.) and ice. Depending on the time of year you may find an assortment of fresh vegetables on your table from our garden. All windows have screens. There's usually a nice breeze coming off the lake. There is a 8,000 BTU a/c window unit and ceiling fan in the living room that cools the kitchen and bedrooms also. A 5,000 BTU a/c unit is also in the bedroom with the queen bed. We do not provide a hairdryer or ironing board/iron. In case of rain the front porch is spacious and airy. There is also baseboard heat and a moveable heater depending on the time of year. The entire cottage is yours to use, the yard and grounds. You're welcome to walk through the gardens. We have several benches under a mature corkscrew willow tree right on the lake next to the dock which offers shade. You're welcome to feed the fish that hang out by the dock. We have fish food available. We can meet you on the day of arrival but mostly are doing self check-in. We provide you with the lockbox code and some additional instructions. We live 20 minutes away so we would be close by for help if needed. You're welcome to contact us anytime for information or questions. Sorry, NO PETS. 10% discount for weekly stays. We need to know ahead of time if there will be children. Children need to wear your own proper lifejackets when near the water. No smoking OR vaping inside or outside. No Candles. NO PARTIES-this is not a venue. No extra daytime guests allowed and no additional overnight guests allowed. I do expect my guests to do their own dishes and to tidy up after themselves. If you are staying in the area for a special event and don't want to drive to and from it, we do have someone who can help but prior arrangements would have to be made.
