Perfect for peace and quiet

Cabin located just off a paved road (easy access, even for my Honda Fit) but very little traffic during the day and virtually none at night.Bring a book, bring a friend, enjoy an escape from reality. Internet is ok but I wouldnt rely upon on it. If you really want media, bring some DVDs.The creek in the front of the property adds perfect ambience whenever you are outside.I got lucky and had one clear night - stars in the backyard are amazing.Only saw some turkeys but there were clear deer and bear tracks in the semi-froxen ground early AM.

Peaceful, Easy Feeling

If you're looking for a secluded cabin in the mountains to detach from the world, this place is it! Clean cabin on a spacious property! We walked around with our 5 year old daughter, just exploring, touching the cold water that's around the property, looking at moss, collecting our favorite rocks, just having no worries. We didn't turn the tv on all day and weren't on our devices, other than to take pictures of the fun time we were having! Standing on the from porch your can hear the water flowing by. This was just so relaxing and peaceful and exactly what we were looking for in a stay in the mountains!

Nice quiet cabin in the woods

We enjoyed our stay very much. If you're looking for a quiet out of the way place give this a try. It's not fancy but very comfortable. Lots of hiking and places to see within a 30-45 minute drive.

Wonderfully cozy cabin

Perfectly charming little cabin. Great size for just you or a small group. No cell service, but WiFi fills in most of those gaps, if you need it. I loved being able to make breakfast and go out on the front porch and enjoy the cool mornings on the swing. Good location to just detach a bit and enjoy life.

Enjoyed our stay for the 2nd time.

We were there for a week, this is our 2nd time in Jakes Cabin. We enjoyed coffee and the birds singing in the morning and in the evenings we came back from exploring the area and enjoyed the porches again. After dark we watched fireflies and enjoyed the stillness of night. Everything was really nice for our stay. The little creek that runs along the road in front is nice and sounds like a soft flow of water. A great place to get away and have some peace and quite. The front and back porch are lovely to sit and enjoy the beauty of this place. Thank you for a great week. Sheila and Pete

Our stay at Jake’s cabin

We were at Jake’s cabin for 4 days and it was wonderful. We had peace and quite and had a wonderful time. Your in the middle of the mountain and don’t even have to leave the cabin or it’s not far from a few wonderful towns would recommend to anyone.

Remote & Rustic

We love greater Asheville and rent cabins there regularly. Due to the remote location, "Jake's Cabin" is quiet and peaceful despite being close to the road, as there is so little traffic. Great insulation, fun trails on site, wood provided for the fire pit out back, and being centralized to all area attractions makes this a decent spot for various trip types. Demetria and Keith were especially kind and easy to reach when needed. Regarding past reviews: Folded linens were stationed on each bed upon arrival, leaving no doubt as to their freshness; making our own beds was not a hindrance. The tub drains fine when the stopper is in the fully lifted position. The mattresses are not luxury items, but neither are most remote cabin accommodations.

Nice getaway

House is just as advertised. Nice location. Easy to get to. We enjoyed our stay. Enjoyed both the front and back porch. We were able to get cell service at the house. Owner was quick to respond. Had everything we needed. Enjoyed walking around the property. It was very quiet and peaceful. Easy drive to Chimney Rock, and downtown Black Mountain. We would definitely go back.

Pleasant visit

As one other person mentioned, the cabin was more remote than we realized. It seemed that anywhere we wanted to go took at least 40 minutes, largely because of winding mountain roads. That said, the cabin had everything we needed to enjoy a long weekend in the mountains with our 12-year-old grandson. We especially appreciated the washer and dryer, and the outdoor fire pit. Communication with the owners was fast and easy. We didn't have any cell service at the cabin, but there was a land line, which came in handy. If you're looking to escape for a few days, this is a great spot. If you prefer to use it as a base to visit Black Mountain, Asheville, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, etc., be prepared to drive.

Secluded Cabin

The cabin is quite adequate and is furnished with proper kitchen supplies and linens. It is out from town a few miles, but if you are looking for a quiet place to unwind, this is a good fit. Cell phone signal was non existent but they have internet that is easy to access, and texting was ok. They also have a land line. I had the people who needed to contact me, call the land line. I would stay there again.

Quiet retreat

The cabin was slightly more out of the way than we thought, but was comfortable and away from the hustle and bustle. Plenty of hikes around and attractions to visit. Local towns have great eateries, gift shops and cafes. Cabin so nice to come home to with the swing on the porch.
