About this property

Situated in the beautiful Dordogne, Le Gite du Castang is a luxury self catering cottage on our 4 hectare property. The cottage is newly renovated and has 2 en suite bedrooms, and a large open plan kitchen/dining/living room. The cottage is fully equipped and also includes a separate 3rd bedroom with large ensuite shower room, perfect for the Grandparents! Outside there is a large private terrace which looks over fields and walnut trees. About 25 metres from the cottage is our beautiful new heated swimming pool. We are situated on a very quiet lane, about 1 km from Coux-et-Bigaroque, a small typical Perigordine village. Being in the heart of the Perigord Noir, we are close to the Vezere and Dordogne rivers - great for canoeing! Nestled in the beautiful Valley of a Thousand Castles, Le Gite Du Castang is within half an hour of great restaurants, spectacular historical places of interest, and there are of course, lovely walks in our peaceful, rural surrounds. We are delighted to add that Le Gite du Castang has been officially classified - Classement Officiel des Hebergements Touristiques - 4 Stars.

Very comfortable accommodation in a lovely setting, within easy reach of all areas. Su and Chris were great hosts, very helpful with recommendations for activities and dinner reservations. They made our dog very welcome and the little extras on arrival was a very nice touch. Highly recommended would definitely stay again.

Wonderful stay

The property is beautiful set in really lovely grounds. The pool is superb and our hosts Su and Chris could not have been more helpful. The area is really lovely with so much to do. We would highly recommend this property

Such a beautiful place

The Gites is a wonderful place to stay and unwind, it’s situated well for all local attractions and areas to visit. We were made welcome on our arrival day, shown around and were thankful for the milk, wine, bread and other victuals to keep us going until the shops opened…thank you. We look forward to see you both in the future.

Peaceful and tranquil

We had a wonderful 2 week holiday at Su and Chris's place that allowed us to completely unwind. Thank you Su and Chris for your hospitality - we were very grateful of some essentials when we arrived late on Saturday. Great for hanging out by the pool on lazy days. Great for long or short circular walks with our dog Woody who met a few friendly locals on the way. We had such fun with Ziggy, Tami and Mila visiting us. Highly recommend, especially as there is so much to do and see locally.

Idyllic

We adore this place. Chris and Su are the ultimate hosts, and their pad reflects this - incredibly comfy with lovely beds and showers, and small touches - dishwasher tablets, lovely soaps, toilet roll - which make a difference (and are not that common in our experience). This place is so peaceful, we almost didn’t want to leave to visit the area. However the environs and local attractions are fabulous too. We hope to book again for next year. As seasoned France visitors who have never been to the same place twice, this is some praise.

Wonderful place to stay

Right from the start, Su and Chris were fantastic. Booking the gite was so easy and Su replied almost instantly to every question I had before we travelled. On arrival, we were warmly greeted and shown round the property. We have stayed in a number of French gites over the years, but this has to be the most well equipped - everything from bin bags, gas bbq, toilet rolls, hand soap, dishcloths, tea towels, pool towels etc. The beds were very comfortable and the facilities were great. Everything you could ask for to make your holiday effort free. The pool was such a bonus on hot days and the gardens were kept tidy throughout our stay. Su and Chris were on hand if we had any questions and gave us plenty of recommendations - including where to eat, visit and food shop. It’s a great place to stay if you like kayaking/canoeing, visiting medieval villages and markets and it was such a pleasure to meet Su and Chris - thank you for letting us stay in your gite.

Why they chose this property

Our property is situated in the most idyllic surroundings, with so much to do and see within half an hour's drive. The Dordogne and Vezere Rivers are minutes away, as are many places of historical interest.... great restaurants, beautiful walks, and gentle rolling hills all around us. We recently renovated a barn on our 4 hectare property and turned it into Le Gite du Castang. It is a luxury 2 bedroom cottage, with additional separate double room. The 3 bedrooms are all ensuite - 2 with showers, 1 with bathtub. The living area in the Gite is spacious with a new kitchen with integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher, built in condution hob and electric oven. The Gite has a beautiful large terrace overlooking our fields and walnut trees, and is perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine, or dining under the stars. The private large heated swimming pool is about 25 metres from the Gite.
