About this property

Great family house, near numerous beaches and golf course

Outside: Spacious stone faced house in exceptional location beside the sea. It is located in a small hamlet near the end of the road and close to the 27-hole championship golf links course at Ballyconneely. The sea is just a minutes walk from the door, where you can bring your morning coffee out, sit on a rock and enjoy the sound of the sea. You are just a short drive away from numerous sandy beaches – Dunloughan, Mannin, Coral Strand to name a few.

Keoghs shop, pub & restaurant is just a 5 minute drive away in the village of Ballyconneely along with a playground and the great vegetarian/vegan cafe Sweet Nothings. If you enjoy fish, make sure to head to the Connemara Smokehouse at Bunowen Pier, and learn how this family tradition produces amazing seafood – we highly recommend the tuna!

Clifden is just 8 miles away for numerous shops, excellent restaurants, deep sea angling, and island boating trips. Roundstone is just 10 miles.

If you are surfers, walkers, or water sports enthusiasts or just like open spaces with good access to amenities, this is the property for you. This really is a special location.

Inside: You enter into a large living/dining area with a large open fire with plenty of cosy sofas and a Tv (with sky channels) to enjoy. Off the dining area, you will find a well-equipped kitchen and a utility room with washer & dryer. Also downstairs you will find a family bathroom with bath & separate shower.

Upstairs there is a large “chill out” space with a further TV. This is the perfect area for the kids to take over with more seating and a dining table to use. There is also plenty of space for an extra fold out bed to be set – available on request. You will also find 2 further rooms – a double & a double with single. Both rooms are ensuite with showers.

10/10 Excellent

Well appointed house suitable for extended families.
We stayed for a week in Cottage 412 Bunowen and found it to be well appointed, with all our needs met for a lovely week in Connemara. The large cottage was ideally suited to our extended family The house, which is in very good condition was clean and comfortable with plenty of living and sleeping space. Located near the end of a long cul de sac down by the sea meant that it was quiet with little passing traffic. We really enjoyed our stay.

412 Bunowen Cottage
We found this house very good to excellent. It is beautifully situated with views over looking the Atlantic Ocean. As a regular visitor to Ballyconneely our stay was most enjoyable and the house comforts contributed in no small way to the overall experience. We had some difficulty with the central heating (we were there during the cold damp spell end June / Beginning July) but Thomas was most attentive in sorting it out

A lovely stay in a beautiful home
We enjoyed our week in 412 Bunowen Cottage. The cottage is well-appointed, the kitchen crockery, cooking utensils etc surpassed any previous rental we have experienced - lots of plates, kitchen tools like graters and wooden spoons, wooden chopping boards etc. The owner kindly left a fruit cake and litre of milk which made a nice first-day breakfast. The house is very spacious, views are lovely, and the location is ideal. It's a very short drive to huge stretches of sandy beach (across from the Connemara Golf Course) which our two retrievers LOVED. There are other lovely beaches close by too, but we preferred the opportunity to have free run of the ones by the golf course. Unfortunately, unbeknown to the owner, a power outage must have switched off the heat (underfloor on the main level and rads upstairs) so the first day/night was unpleasantly cold (the weather was unseasonably cool for time of year), thus the reason I gave a score of 4 vs 5 for Comfort. Siobhan responded to our enquiry even though it was a Saturday night and got in touch with the owner, who came out and addressed the issue in the morning and thoughtfully checked in a few times to make sure all was still working properly. The location near the end of the cut-de-sac is very private, views are lovely and the curious Connemara ponies across the road were a treat. Proximity to Clifden for groceries is great (SuperValu, Lidl and Aldi there) and the towns of Clifden and Roundstone are both lovely to explore.

Modern house in beautiful setting
This is a really spacious house, well maintained, and cosy in October. Suitable for remote working. We were very lucky with dry, sunny weather, which really helped to enjoy the fabulous location and nearby beaches, rivers and mountains. Visited Ballynahinch, Roundstone + beaches and Killary fjord areas, and Clifden town is busy with nice shops and cafes. Only negative is the mattress quality in the non-main bedrooms.
