Elegant Provençal Estate in the Sunny South of France - Domaine des Charmettes
'Maison Lavande' is simply and comfortably decorated with classical and Provencal furnishings. From the kitchen and living room there is a exceptional view of the “Mont Ventoux” and the East vineyard. A private terrace and outside covered sitting area “the pigeonnier” are surrounded by a Mediterranean herb and flower garden with flowering laurel bushes, thyme, rosemary and lavender. On the terrace there are a chairs for relaxing, an outdoor dining table and gas barbecue, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the Provencal landscape with a glass of wine. In the “pool area”, there is a very large floodlit swimming pool with a sliding semi-telescopic removable cover, sun beds and a covered sitting area. At poolside there are fig trees for shade. The covered sitting area is a perfect place to sit back with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and just relax. The enclosed pool area is the only place where dogs are not allowed. The pool area is possibly shared with the other vacation rental on the Domaine. Laudun has a Provencal market on Sunday mornings as well cafés, bakeries, and shops.

Lovely host, very hospitality and helpful. Welcome us with good wine from thier own vineyard and homemade jam. Nice terrace to have breakfast or BBQ in the evening. The pool is also well maintained . Nearby is a small town where there is a market on Sundays. The vineyard is idyllic and fantastic place to stay. Thumbs up.
Dear Laura and Thierry,
warm greetings from Germany and once again thanks for all!

Really beautiful spot and welcoming hosts
We had a great trip and Laura and Thierry made us very welcome and were very helpful. Really appreciated the bottles of wine and homemade jam on arrival. The house is well kitted out although we did feel that for the price we were paying the kitchen utensils/equipment could have been updated/better. Also we felt that the kitchen wasn't really as clean as we would expect especially when paying an additional fee for cleaning. That said the pool was amazing, our own fig tree and terrace a real treat and we all loved our week!

Nice quiet location, great views, lovely hosts
Great location, short walk in to town. Our hosts were welcoming and considerate, their recommendations were helpful and essential when trying to avoid oversubscribed tourist destinations without missing out on experiencing the best the region has to offer. We really enjoyed their house wines, amazing to stay on a small vineyard and learn all about the wine making of the region.

A HOME AWAY FROM HOME
My husband and I were delighted with this charming estate and the very engaging hosts, Laura and Thierry. The photos and description truly represent the beauty and ambience of the landscape, terraces, buildings and interiors of this very special place. We stayed a month and were "at home" from the first day with the comforts available and the resources that Laura and Thierry generously shared: a well-supplied kitchen, a notebook of maps and restaurants, good info on about any thing French, bicycles, goats and chickens to feed, scads of books, and where to go for good wine! We going back next year, same time, same place. This is a good center from which to roam all over the Gard,

Fantastic Family Holiday in Provence
We travelled through Italy and France with our 3 kids aged 8, 11 and 14 and thoroughly enjoyed staying with Laura and Thierry who were fabulous hosts. Great facilities and the location was great for day trips to Pont du Gard, Uzes market day, Nimes and Avignon.
Wake up each morning to a stunning view over the vinyard and we had the special treat of watching Thierry in action labelling and packing his own wine production - which tasted great!
Easy to find, close to small towns and major toll roads, a really top location.
Fantastic holiday destination and great hosts. Thanks Laura and Thierry, hope to meet you again someday.

About the host
Hosted by Laura Hicks d'Esperonnat
We, Thierry and Laura d'Esperonnat, a Franco-American couple are your hosts. We bought the Domaine in 2001 and have been renovating and improving it since. We moved to Laudun in order to share our passion for grape growing, wine making and tasting plus the Sunny South of France.
Why they chose this property
We chose this area for many reasons. The first two that come to mind are the weather and our passion for winemaking and of course wine tasting. Other great reasons are the people, the Provençal markets, local food, the restaurants and all the different things to do and sites to see close by. An elegant 19th century vineyard made up of 3 houses and numerous outbuildings surrounded by 1 hectare of vines and 1 hectare of gardens and woods. We make our own red and rosé wine. Situated in a quiet area at the edge of the village of Laudun, the Domaine is a wonderful vacation spot, on the Western edge of Provence. Laudun is just south of Bagnols sur ceze in the northern part of the Languedoc Roussillon region. The village is well known for gallo-roman ruins and famous for its “Côtes du Rhône Village wines.
What makes this property unique
Ideal place for couples and families who want to enjoy the 'sunny life' of Provence and Southern France. The 'Domaine' is extremely well situated for day trips in and around the region. Laudun is centrally located for trips to Chateauneauf du Pape, Avignon, Pont du Gard, Nimes, Uzès, the Ceze Valley, and the 'Gorges de l'Ardeche'. The Mediterranean and its wonderful beaches are just over an hour's drive. For us the Domaine des Charmettes is a haven of tranquility in a Provencal setting of grape vines, Olive, Cypress and Pine trees that takes you back in time. Having a glass of wine or the typical Provençal "apero" around the pool or on your terrace is perfect after visiting the local markets or Roman ruins.
