Lu Impostu. ...
La Cinta, a thin and long expanse of golden sand embraced by the crystalline blue sea, Cala Brandinchi, a white coastline and waters similar to tropical paradises renamed, not surprisingly, Tahiti, Lu Impostu, its natural continuation, the magnificent Marina di Puntaldìa with its modern tourist port and the Caribbean spectacle of s'Isuledda. These are the symbolic beaches of San Teodoro, a renowned tourist centre, particularly loved by young people for its summer nightlife, whose territory also boasts other famous coastal pearls: it is impossible not to visit Cala Ginepro, a bay scented by the Mediterranean scrub, the beach of Coda Cavallo , which will open your gaze to the grandeur of Tavolara and its protected marine area, Cala Ghjlgolu, which will surprise you with a rock shaped by the wind and sea in the shape of a turtle, one of the most loved natural attractions, especially by children. And then there are the less famous and equally beautiful ones: Baia Salinedda, Cala d'Ambra, Cala Suaraccia, Li Corri di Li Becchi, Li Marini and Seghefusti. The spectacle of the coast is completed, behind the beaches, by the lagoon of San Teodoro, a stopping point for pink flamingos in the migratory periods and residence of the knight of Italy, an ideal place for walks and birdwatching.
Known in Gallura as Santu Diàdoru, the village is inhabited by just under five thousand residents in winter, animated by tens of thousands of tourists in summer. The center came to life in the 17th century, in the immediate hinterland on the eastern slopes of the Monte Nieddu massif, when shepherds and fishermen populated the splendid portion of land, which has been frequented since prehistoric times. The nuraghe of the Naracheddu village is the most relevant testimony. There was an inhabited center also in Roman times: the archaeological finds are documented in the Museo del Mare.
Among the events not to be missed are the feasts of the patron saint, San Teodoro, whose church was rebuilt in the mid-twentieth century, and that of Sant'andrea, which takes place in the Montipitrosu district. Very suggestive are the fires of Sant'antonio Abate, a festival called Lu Fuculoni, during which the population gathers around the bonfires in honor of the saint. San Teodoro is a place of delights for the palate: in May here is the Aglióla, where you can taste the typical dishes. The cuisine will win you over with the Gallura soup, made with bread, cheese and beef broth. When it comes to dessert, let yourself be tempted by cucciuléddi milàti, honey dumplings, frisjióli léti, pancakes, and niuléddha, with almond and grated orange. All accompanied by a glass of Vermentino di Gallura.
