Excellent Property and Location!

This is a wonderful home and worth every penny. In terms of accommodations, it has it all. Be cognizant of the following: - We had a little difficulty reaching the property manager (who is different from the owner) regarding a large build up of trash. On trash day, no one came to grab the bins from the prior week's guests. Eventually, the property manager was able to secure new trash bins for the back half of our stay, which resolved the issue. - The tennis court next to the house is not part of the property or rental. The home does not advertise it as such, but for the avoidance of doubt, do not assume it comes with the home. It is padlocked and only for the guests in the subdivision on the other side of the courts. - To get to the beach, you must cross the highway. It is in fact a highway, so be very careful. Also make sure to ask the property owner for the key code to get a car into the subdivision that has access to the private beach. Otherwise, you will be lugging umbrellas and chairs across the highway, which can be tricky (to say the least). Get ready for an awesome stay. You'll love it at this house, as it is centrally located to everything. Highly recommend!

Great location but not everything it claims to be...

We have rented a home each summer for the past few years and always had very positive experiences. This year (2024) I regret to say that we were disappointed. Pro: Great location Great back deck view with fabulous sunsets House very clean Negatives: Dining area furniture very old and practically falling apart Large living room TV did not work for entire week – reported to property manager on first day but unable to resolve. Only two kayaks instead of three and all of the paddles were broken into singles Upon arrival no life jackets for kayaks, boogie boards, beach umbrellas and only two beach chairs. Was told to in store room however it was locked. No attempt made to provide access. On Wed a circuit breaker tripped and maintenance was sent and opened the store room to reset the breaker – missing beach equipment in the store room. Two days were hot and A/C was unable to cool. The HVAC tech came both days did the best he could but still warm. Kitchen – one burner did not work and most of the glasses and cups were plastic Ceiling fan in living room did not work No hair dryer No beach passes to private beach Ants in upstairs. Keep belongings off the floor,we brought them home One of the property managers was unresponsive – did not return text messages after first day and his voicemail inbox was full so unable to leave any messages. Luckily there was another contact who did respond.

Relaxing environment and great location

Property was beautiful with wonderful views to be enjoyed and easy access to everywhere you want to be in Bethany and surrounding areas. Attention needed in some showers ie. mold, sheets, pillows and towels sub-par, carpet throughout home very dirty. Some mattresses need replacing/toppers.

Delaware Haven

The property is very well situated for both beach and for the estuary. crossing the highway to get to the beach is a chore but seeing the sunsets over the estuary is a big plus compared to beachside properties. With five bedrooms (only two en suite) it accommodates two families easily. The very large sitting room/kitchen overlooking the estuary is a great gathering spot without being crowded. Henry the owner was available on short notice to rectify and amplify!

Summer fun

Had a nice stay. The only drawback is having to cross the highway to get to the beach. Hard to traverse with little kids. Ended up driving over and dropping off a lot. Overall the property was beautiful although the furniture is rather worn. Sank into most seats.

An unfortunate week.

Upon arrival, we immediately found about 20 towels in the laundry, broken chairs, and a porch that needed cleaning. The property manager immediately sent assistance for these items and we were back up and running. Unfortunately, on our last day of vacation, we found a broken condom next to the bed my 10 year old had been sleeping in all week. We would find used condoms under two additional beds as we were packing to leave. These were not ours and had gone unnoticed all week. We alerted the property management who seemed as concerned as we were. Despite evidence to the contrary upon check-in, we were told that the cleaning service is expensive, excellent, and stated that these condoms were not there at the start of the week. The property manager provided this additional information: "We don’t know how those condoms got there. Kids could have gotten into them and played like they were slingshots? We have no idea? It seems very odd that this was the case in three different bedrooms? When you noticed the broken chair and barstool and dirty patio, you notified us immediately. Why did you wait so many days to let us know about this situation? " Our family will never return to this location again.

Annual family summer reunion

Our recent family vacation was wonderful on all accounts- location of the house provided family members with great options. Those who fished were happy with the bay out back. Those who kayaked or used our own paddle board were excited to easily launch. The access to the beach was simple. Bikes were in great shape and provided exercise and sightseeing for all ages including our 11-yr old grandson. The nearby nature area had many paths. The interior of the house was clean and complete with all amenities. Lynne responded quickly to any question. Overall, the time spent in Bethany Beach will be remembered as a most enjoyable time for our 9-member multi- generational family. From ages 6-67, we all had a great time.

Perfect Bay Front Home!

We loved this bay front home! Gorgeous views of the bay and beautiful sunsets every night and a nice deck to watch them from. The listing is very accurate and the kitchen is well equipped. We loved the dock for crabby and putting in the kayaks and there were 5 bikes to choose from. The main living area is very spacious. Short walk to the beach and attentive lifeguards. Short walk/ride to the bike/walking path right off route 1.

Great Family Reunion Spot

Loved our August ‘21 stay. Very responsive and helpful manager. All the reviews were accurate - great views over harbor, beach a short walk, very big/open living & dining room perfect for a family group of 10 of all ages. Spacious and quiet bedrooms. Crossing road to beach is only downside, but if you are patient/careful it’s really fine and no need to drive. 10 min walk max. We used the kayaks and row boat almost every day and great bike/running path near house were unexpected plus. Matt’s Fish Camp was yummy for takeout if a bit pricey. Enjoy!

Great place

A lovely place tucked into the bayside with an easy walk across 1 to a private beach. The location was wonderful and the management and owner were very accommodating. The screen porch wasn't cleaned at all and would've taken a full day project to make it work so that was a little disappointing and the dishwasher wasn't working but overall it was wonderful. Would highly recommend for families like ours.

Lovely week

We had a lovely week in Bethany despite grey skies and cold weather. The house was spacious and created a great come together space for our multigenerational group. Only concern was sometimes the coastal highway out front was a little louder than expected but mostly it was fine and we had a great week!

Family Christmas

We chose this house for our family Christmas for the large upstairs kitchen and family room and the view. We had a wonderful few days! There was ample sleeping space, bathrooms, hot water and space to gather. The sunset views from the deck were incredible. We would only recommend to the home owner to supply a few good knives for cooking.

Great location, needs to be cleaner

Beautiful location on the bay with amazing views. Kayaks were great to take out on the bay. Plenty of chairs to take to the beach. Nice to have the carts to carry the gear to the beach which was a < 5 min walk. Not too crowded in our area. Lifeguard present. I don't know if the rules have changed, but dogs are allowed on the beach with a leash (We were here 8/2020). There was a grill and was supposed to be cleaned, but wasn't. The cleaning of the house before check in was suboptimal. The floors and the carpets didn't seem to be addressed. Additionally, some of the tables were not wiped clean. The drawers in the bathrooms need to also be cleaned better. Lastly, the propane tank for the grill is supposed to be full/close to full, but ran out on our first use. The manager did feel bad and is reimbursing us for having to get an exchange on our own. But overall we did enjoy our stay. I think the cleanliness factor could be addressed and make this an even better experience.

great trip

I stayed with 4 siblings and their spouses for 5 nights. The place easily handles 10 people with adequate table space for dinner and a fairly well equipped kitchen for communal meal preparation. There were some spices and some pantry items available. It is really great as I have rented places in the past where I had to buy salt, pepper and every little thing I needed to make a meal, Having some of the staples available creates a lot of good will for the place!! The main living area is very open and great for being together without feeling crowded. Views of the bay are amazing with lots of outdoor seating. The owners were great about having the dogs with us. Dogs are allowed on the beach off season (after Sept 15?) and ours had a great time. Overall a great place and my sibs and I hope to come back next year.

Beautiful view

Beautiful house right on the bay with gorgeous views. Coming from out of town we really appreciated how generous the owners were in keeping the house well stocked (little things like Saranwrap and salt and pepper go a long way). Communication with Owner via VRBO was great and check in process easy. We would definitely rent again.

Wonderful Stay with Gorgeous Views

Our family and 2 dogs had a wonderful vacation at this home - our first vacation in DE! The view is incredible! That was the selling point for us and we weren't disappointed. The screened in porch was perfect - especially on the rainy days! Owners were extremely attentive - we had an elevator issue when we arrived and they had it repaired first thing Monday morning and we were able to use it all week with no issues. You do have to cross the highway to get to the beach but it was easy and super close - we drove everyone over to the gate with the gear and came back to drop the car off. We loved the dog friendly private beach! Took our dogs a few times. Beach was Clean and quiet with no seaweed. No lifeguard FYI. We had no issues with the AC, refrigerator, or grill. The house was immaculate! Upstairs Thermostat runs warm in late afternoon from the sun beating down but still cool inside. The dock isn't too functional for getting into the water but we made it work and tried out the kayaks! Since the owners are new to renting, the house isn't too loaded with things like board games (older and just a few) and books/DVDs, but we brought our own anyway. Loved the large kitchen with plenty of counter space! Some of the kitchen supplies could use an update (pots and pans, small electrics, utensils, etc) but all the essentials are there so we had what we needed. A larger couch and more seating around dining table would really upgrade the upstairs, but we knew all that from the photos and we were so happy in this beautiful home with an incredible view. Bringing our dogs was key for us, and it's very hard to find a house of this caliber that is dog friendly. Location is great too - right between Rehoboth and Bethany. Thank you for an incredible stay and we would definitely recommend to others and rent again!

This house has everything needed for a great vacation

The house is beautiful, spacious and has everything you need for a vacation. Short walk to the private beach. The bay is in the backyard. Close to Ocean City, MD, Dewey Beach and Rehoboth. Easy to rent, as owner agent is very friendly, quick to reply and helpful.

The actual property was very nice but too many issues for us and amenities were not as mentioned.

This house as in photo is on a lovely piece of property. But it all ended there for us. Cons: All mattresses extra firm very uncomfortable unless you like that Dock in back not usable at all and actually dangerous to walk on Row boat broken not usable Barbecue very old and dirty and located in a place that makes it very inconvenient Elevator didn’t work which would have been helpful since kitchen and common area 2 flights from bbq Beach located across rte 1 which is very treacherous to cross and a hassle if you have a lot to bring to beach Dogs allowed on property only. sign of rules on refrigerator says not allowed on beach meanwhile the actual beach sign says it’s fine on a leach. There were multiple dogs running around without even a leach but we were reprimanded. My dog is 8lbs on leach on my lap. Very petty. Make sure you are aware that this lovely private beach has no life guard so you have to swim at own risk. Refrigerator broken and leaked Air conditioning in daytime didn’t work properly in the main common area. It got up to 85degrees! Common area seating not very comfortable. A lot of chairs but none comfortable if you want to watch movies at night. When you look at photo of dock nowhere does it state that you can only use the left broken side and we were also never told so when we first tried to kyak the neighbor saw us on there side which is functioning and got angry. The agent told me I should apologize to them! that was day 1! Well I was nice to them and they understood I wasn’t informed. When I complained about all of these things my main response from the agent representing the owner was “ well we are knew at this so we are learning “ I didn’t pay so much money to be guinea pigs!! They own another house 2 doors down and said we could use that dock if we wanted till those renters arrive but that dock was not much better. Pros: House was fairly clean aside from bbq We had gorgeous weather ( nothing to do with house but was our one positive saving grace) I have been going to Bethany Beach for 18 years and always had a great experience at Sea Colony condos. I only rented this house cause it’s pet friendly and for use of the dock and bay. I will never rent this house again nor would I recommend it. There are many other options. I spent 2 weeks stressed disappointed and my kids also where very disappointed.
