Hoarthorn Hideaway is a double train carriage that has been renovated to a high standard in 2022, is located on the owner’s working sheep farm - no cockerels just sheep, ducks, and chickens! - and set within its own large, enclosed lawn space. The property comprises an open-plan living space with a Smart TV and Wi-Fi, leading to the double bedroom and shower room. Outside of the carriage is a picnic bench and electric barbecue/grill, plus an enclosed paddock with parking. In the adjoining part of the paddock are sheep and in the next-door field - viewing through the picture window in the hedge - are cows and calves.
There is tons of wildlife to see here, from wild boar to deer to lots of birds, Canadian geese and squirrels.
This is the perfect place for a quiet romantic break away, and there are fabulous walks straight from the carriage within the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean which boasts some stunning scenery. This is a perfect base from which to visit nearby attractions which include Clearwell Caves, The Secret Forest, Puzzlewood, Perry Grove Steam Railway, a sculpture trail, and a railway museum. The Forest of Dean has always been a huge draw for cyclists (and the carriage has a dry undercover area to store bikes - bring your own lock to secure bike to the rack) and walkers. There is also a cinema situated in Coleford, and another in Cinderford- just a short drive away
Areas within easy reach include Beechenhurst and Mallards Pike, and Symonds Yat is a popular destination for ornithologists due to the presence of nesting peregrine falcons. The Wye Valley also offers a variety of river-based activities such as canoeing and fishing. The town of Monmouth is a short drive from the property and has some great boutique shops, and not to mention Monmouth Castle and the Monnow Bridge!
