Town: Fort William, the principal town in the Western Highlands, is located on the banks of Loch Linnhe and has a broad variety of stores and pubs that serve an excellent assortment of meals. The area has stunning scenery and a wealth of walking activities, ranging from mild strolls to more demanding treks, as well as Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Skiiers will also appreciate the Nevis Range, a ski resort with a mountain gondola and a World Cup mountain biking track just four miles from Fort William. Take a tour of the Ben Nevis Whisky Distillery or visit the Glenfinnan Monument for a more peaceful respite. A fantastic base for visiting the magnificent West Highlands.
