The Secret Garden is a lovely garden apartment with its own private courtyard garden, situated in the town of Ayr and only a short stroll away from the beautiful sand beach and promenade. It is located on the beautiful Ayrshire coastal path with its stunning backdrop of the ever-changing profile of the mountains of Arran.
The apartment is a short walk from Ayr’s Low Green (a large grassy area which hosts festivals and events throughout the year). Ayr’s huge sandy South Beach is a few hundred yards away and Pirate Pete’s children play area is just round the corner. Heads of Ayr Farm Park- a large farm and adventure play park with a huge variety of animals, train rides, quad bikes, eateries and many other activities is a short drive away . Just round the corner from the apartment are restaurants and shops, with the Gaiety Theatre just a 5 minute walk away and Ayr Racecourse a short drive.
This coastline is steeped in history, and has many well-known links golf courses including Turnberry, Old Prestwick, Royal Troon, and a multitude of others including the beautiful Belleisle and Seafield courses within 1½ miles.
This is, of course, in the heart of Burns Country with the Old Brig o’Doon, Rabbie Burns birthplace and visitors centre in Alloway to the south of Ayr. There are many pretty harbour villages such as Dunure and Maidens just a short drive along the coastal route which takes you over ’The Electric Brae’ and on to Culzean Castle, which hosts beautiful grounds, restaurants and visitors centre as well as overlooking the Firth of Clyde from its cliff top location. Also nearby are the parks of Rozelle and Belleisle and the 18th-century Dumfries House set in a 2000-acre site with stunning walks throughout the grounds. There are lovely walks along the esplanade and Low Green out to Doonfoot (see if you can count the many swans!) and Greenan Castle or you can set off across the Auld Brig o’ Ayr and up the River Ayr walk to the stepping stones or on to Auchincruive.
Galloway Forest Park (with its dark Sky status) is within easy reach and is Britain’s largest forest park and boasts tranquil valleys, rugged rock face, lochs, waterfalls, and ancient woodland with an assortment of wildlife including a red deer observation area.
