A great location in a seaside Medieval town-- steps from Tartini Square.
The very old front door has a BIG step up to the foyer from slanting uphill cobbles. Then you ascend a steep stairway with 2 old oars pulling duty as handrails to reach the landing covered in cheap linoleum. It wasn’t a promising start.
Once inside and upstairs the 1 bedroom apartment was comfortable, but the décor a bit fussy—it’s also very dark inside as there’s no natural light. The mattress on the bed was extremely soft and I slept on the couch. The bathroom is located next to the kitchen on the far side of the bedroom.
The town of Piran limits car access to residents. The property manager had indicated that visitor’s public parking was available at locations outside the Old Town, at a cost of €20 per day at Arze or 29€ at Fornace. Arze was sold out when we got there so we headed to Fornace. I wish there had been more communication regarding the parking situation, and that we’d been informed that Fornace had an elevator to the bus stop that takes you into town. Instead we walked downhill 20 minutes into town dragging our bags. If you don’t know to ask, you don’t know. The arrival communication could have been more complete than saying “contact us 30 minutes before arrival so we can meet you onsite.”
A property manager meets you at the apartment, with the key in a lockbox outside. Waiting for the property manager to arrive seemed redundant, the code for the lockbox could just have been shared along with the details on the parking info.
