Named after the former residents, this beautiful period town house has high ceilings and tall sash windows bathing the rooms in light, as well as the most incredible original ceiling rose in the living room.It boasts wonderful views over the harbour and across to the abbey on the headland. Here you can even watch the heritage steam train as it puffs its way into the town from its journey across the surrounding beautiful North York Moors.
Open the bespoke metal gate, which has been crafted by a local blacksmith and incorporates a herbalist theme of intertwined blossoming flowers. Stone steps lead you through the tiered garden with a small patio and a seating area perfect for two, where you can watch the world pass by. Stepping inside on the ground floor you have two bedrooms, a double at the front of the property as well as a smaller single bedroom, with an additional trundle bed, plus the beautiful spacious bathroom, with both a freestanding bath as well as a cubicle shower. On this floor there is also a utility cupboard with a washing machine, as well as access to the enclosed rear courtyard – ideal for drying wetsuits after a day at the beach, or storing outdoor equipment such as surfboards. Up on the first floor you have the kitchen/dining room with a central long sweeping dining table, where you can all socialise over meals you have made in the well equipped kitchen. From this social space you go through into the living room which boasts incredible elevated views over the town and harbour, which you can enjoy from the huge windows. Up on the second floor you have a twin room with zip and link beds which can be made up as a super kingsize on request as well as a kingsize bedroom which enjoys harbour views where you can watch boats passing on their way out to sea. At the top of the house on the third floor you have a grand super kingsize bedroom as well as a bathroom.
Your dogs are also welcome to join you, this is a very pet friendly area, most pubs and many cafés are dog friendly and there are some great walking trails to enjoy, as well as sections of the beach which are dog friendly all year round. Pack up your bathing suits, swimming trunks and towels and head straight for the glorious sands of Whitby Beach, where you can enjoy a variety of water sports including surfing and paddle boarding, or simply have a paddle. You can also enjoy a leisurely stroll along to Whitby’s lighthouse or hook your catch of the day along the pier. Within the town you will be spoilt for choice for things to do, with panoramic views atop the 199 steps, the wonders of the gothic Whitby Abbey, the fun-filled Dracula Experience, the picturesque Pannett Park, home to the Whitby Museum, and the Endeavour tall-ship in the harbour. No stay in Whitby is complete without a visit to one of the many award winning seafood restaurants, you can’t get fish and chips much fresher than this!
