Lagos is a city in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. It is 75kmts from Faro airport and is known for its walled old town, cliffs and Atlantic beaches. Steep wooden steps lead down to the sandy cove of Praia do Camilo. The nearby cliffs of Ponta da Piedade offer stunning views of the headland and a lighthouse. The Igreja de Santo António, an ornate church from the 18th century, is located opposite the Castelo dos Governadores, a castle with a baroque façade and towers. Water sports and boat trips through the caves along the coast are a memorable experience.
