About this property
Clare Cottage, Friston
NEW FOR 2023, this delightful cosy holiday cottage sits in a peaceful spot just minutes from the beautiful Suffolk coast, with the added bonus of off-road parking for two cars, a southwest facing garden where little guests and/or a dog can run around or older ones can unwind and enjoy the birdlife, and a country pub just a short walk away.
Interiors retain all the character of a period cottage with its parquet flooring and original wood burner, complimented by a cool palette with colours introd
You’re welcomed into a small hallway with a door to the bathroom to your right and the kitchen and rest of the cottage ahead of you. Hard flooring runs throughout the ground floor with a couple of internal steps, big rugs for cosy feet and modern ceiling radiators keep the cottage warm. Please note that there are some low ceilings and door frames in the cottage.
KITCHEN
Light and airy, this long kitchen is equipped with a built-in electric oven with a four-ring ceramic hob, a microwave, an under counter fridge, freezer, washing machine with an airer, a kettle, and a toaster.
DINING ROOM
Conveniently off the kitchen with doors to the living room and conservatory, and stairs to the first floor. A key feature here is the original wood burner and the room’s furnished with a farmhouse style dining table with four chairs, a trolley, a couple of attractive chests, and a rocking chair.
LIVING ROOM
Step down into the charming living room with its beautiful parquet floor. A couple of sofas invite guests to relax in front of the TV which sits on a handsome storage chest and there’s a coffee table, a couple of occasional tables and a bookcase with some books and games to entertain you.
CONSERVATORY
Sure to be popular on sunny days with the sun streaming in through the double doors and just the sound of garden birds to disturb you. This room’s simply furnished with a sofa and coffee table.
SHOWER ROOM
The large shower cubicle is fitted with an electric shower and adjustable shower head and there’s also a wash basin with storage beneath it, a WC, a heated towel rail (towels are provided), and natural light from the window at the end.
FIRST FLOOR
Carpeted stairs rise and turn to the first-floor landing with a rope banister to assist you. Bedrooms (both carpeted) are to either side with a step up to the room on the right, and the cloakroom ahead of you.
BEDROOM ONE
A zip and link bed in this double aspect room can be made as a super king or twin beds for you. (The room will be made up as a twin unless you let us know when booking that you’d prefer super king). There’s room to unpack and settle in with a chest of drawers and bedside cabinets, plus a desk/dressing table and a couple of chairs so you can escape with a good book!
BEDROOM TWO
Slightly smaller but equally pretty, this room has a king size bed between bedside drawer units and there’s additional storage in a small wardrobe and chest of drawers, plus a comfy armchair.
CLOAKROOM
Conveniently located between the bedrooms with a WC, quirky wash basin and storage beneath it.
OUTSIDE
Clare Cottage sits on Chases Lane, a quiet lane in the village of Friston with The Chequers pub just a few minutes’ walk away and parking for two cars at the side of the property. The fully enclosed and casual garden at the back of the cottage has well-established shrubs and hedges and a good-sized lawn – ideal for little guests or dogs to run around (either or both must be supervised please). There’s a small patio with a bistro style table and chairs for morning coffee or sun downers.
The closest seaside town Aldeburgh is less than four miles away with lots of independent shops, eateries and galleries to explore, as well as an independent cinema and wonderful walks with a coastal path to the magical village of Thorpeness where kids can go boating on the Meare.
No pets upstairs or on the furniture please, and be sure to clean up any mess in the garden.
