About this property
OceanBlue: The Hideaway
Tucked away at the far end of the old stable yard, the Hideaway is a lovingly restored retreat set between leafy slopes and coastal contours.
The space
From the old stable yard, the original barn door opens into the bedroom, a comfortable, well-furnished room with high ceilings and natural slate floors. Leading into the bathroom, a walk in rain shower powerful shower is decorated with a falling mosaic and beach stone floor, complete with underfloor heating.
The open plan living area upstairs features a wood burner, vaulted beam ceilings and a traditional stable door leading out to the middle terraced garden. The kitchen, fitted into the lower eaves is cute and compact with oven, fridge, hob, microwave and sink. The cottage has wifi, and TV with Sky.
From the lounge, walk out to the Hideaway’s sun trap – a cosy cobbled area with a dining area ideal for enjoying a glass of wine whilst catching the late afternoon sun.
When it is too hot, climb the steps to the Victorian walled garden. Relax on the upper deck and admire the views looking south over the Hideaway and out to sea. The Nun’s Rest – the ruin to west of the garden was a chapel used by the Nuns when East Dene was a convent at the beginning of last century. The window is typical of the gothic style used throughout the estate, its twin can be seen in Carmel, again with a southerly aspect a little further up the lane.
Guest access
The terrace and garden are for exclusive use of Hideaway Guests.
Please note the entrance to the Hideaway is through the Stable Yard which is also used by Guests of Strawberries and Stable Cottage.
Other things to note
Please take care on the inside stairs - they are steeper than standard.
Please take care on the old stone paths and steps leading to the upper garden.
