A gorgeous cottage in a very peaceful and pretty setting. Loved the interiors, the attention to detail and the friendliness of the hosts. Highly recommended!
It was a delight to stay a the Smithy for Christmas, it is a great little base for exploring the Cairngorms, and is thoughtfully set up and perfect for a little family. Mahri was a brilliant host, and even got a Christmas tree and decorations ready for us, and a few gifts under the tree which was so kind.
We were lucky enough to get some snow for Christmas and everything was just like a Christmas card. We were even able to cook a whole Christmas dinner in the kitchen and had every item we might have needed!
I recommend this place highly for a cozy, and relaxing stay.
We loved loved loved this darling little house. It's very tastefully furnished and decorated, in a lovely setting (both the surrounding hills and the garden) and with all the mod cons - everything you'll need for up to four people to have a wonderful time.
The house is small but brilliantly designed to be cosy and convenient - it felt to me like staying in an enchanted, grownup-sized doll's house. There's a lovely garden to sit in/explore, and we enjoyed preparing simple meals in the tidy kitchen.
The host and hostess, who live steps away, were very responsive with questions about our reservation. They welcomed us upon arrival and shared helpful hints about nearby sightseeing. Both are talented artists; don't miss an opportunity to visit their on-premise studio.
Our hosts, Mahri and Jim were so welcoming and gracious. They gave us an abundance of information about the area and local history. We could go on walks right from our front the door. The quaint cottage is exactly as described and made an excellent home base for exploring the Highlands. Highly recommend!
The cottage was clean and comfortable. When we arrived everything was ready for us. The owners were out of town but checked to make sure everything was ok when they returned. It is in a lovely, quiet rural area so if that’s what your looking for in the Cairngorms I’d highly recommend it.
We loved our stay at this cottage. It was spotlessly clean and tidy and perfect for our base for exploring the area. Lovely hosts who made sure we were ok and gave great information on the local area. Highly recommend a stay here.
We stayed for two nights in this lovely cottage in the tranquil surroundings of Upper Donside. Everything has been very well thought through to create a cosy, comfortable and beautifully decorated space. A welcoming haven to return to after a day walking in the hills. Mahri was most helpful and attentive. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer...
