Charming
Warm, cozy and spacious cottage. Spoilt by the comfortable queen sized bed and super soft duvet and pillows. Beautifully decorated throughout which made the cottage delightful and homely. Contained everything we needed-thanks for the board games which we used most nights.

We could not have been more impressed with this gorgeous property. Having stayed at multiple cottages within Pembrokeshire (regularly travelling to the county to visit my family), this holiday let really was a gem! Many places feel so impersonal, but this dream cottage felt just like a family home, with all the little touches you might need for a relaxing stay. I contacted Louise in advance of my visit to ask a few questions and she responded quickly and courteously. Thanks for the lovely experience, and wet look forward to visiting again! The cottage is lovely and very comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed. The beds are comfortable. I drank my tea each morning in the beautiful garden. It was clear the host pays thoughtful attention to the property and their guest's experience.

Wonderful Saty
Had a great stay with my wife and daughter. Louise was super helpful before the stay giving advice on places to go and visit. On the day she let us know when the property was available. The property was immaculate when we arrived and was in a nice quiet spot but within a 10 min drive of Pembroke. Highly recommended this property as a base for exploring Pembrokeshire as everything was in easy driving distance.

Overall this was a pleasant comfortable stay, cottage cool even in the great heat! The only downside was the location-an A road (to Pembroke Dock) ran very close to the property and the traffic was constant and loud. At the end of a long day sightseeing when it would have been pleasant to sit in the very pretty garden it drove us inside. The proximity of the road was not mentioned in the property description.

Beautiful cottage
My husband, son and I have just had a magical time in this amazing cottage! It is so comfortable and has everything you need. It took us 12 hours to drive down from Edinburgh but within half an hour we felt right at home enjoying the delicious welcome pack. We loved sitting around the fire in the evening and spending time out in the garden when it was sunny. It’s so picturesque and we always felt so happy to come back to it every day after our excursions. We loved all the beaches and spend a fantastic day at Little Haven. My son was in the water all the time while I did go in briefly with my wet suit! We had a wonderful lunch at Coast in Saundersfoot and then had a lovely walk along the beach there. I definitely recommend boating around Pembroke Castle. That was lots of fun! Every morning we’d drive down to Leyland Marina and I’d go a 5k run along the old railway line (thank you Louise for that tip!) while my husband and son enjoyed breakfast in the lovely Manilla’s Cafe which is perfectly situated to watch all the boats and eat amazing cake! This is our first visit to Pembrokeshire but I feel we need to visit again very soon as there’s so much still to do! Thanks so much Louise for the use of your beautiful cottage.

Beautiful cottage with every facility, especially in the kitchen
We enjoyed our week very much but felt it might have been a good idea to emphasise that a car is necessary for any expedition - you cannot walk from the house in safety because of the busy main road. Plenty of sites to see - Pembroke castle particularly recommended and we enjoyed doing parts of the coastal path. Inside the cottage was lovely although there were so many 'homely' knick knacks on surfaces that you had to move them to put your own possessions down! Standard of cleanliness and maintenance is very high.

Charming, secluded Pembrokershire property
This is a very charming, secluded property just outside of town. The listing pictures are accurate. The house was decorated beautifully, had everything we needed including a very nice welcome basket and the garden is tended nicely with a brook running nearby. The location of the property was perfect for us, being centrally located to all of the areas we wanted to visit. St David's, Freshwater Beach, Tenby & Carew Castle were our favorites. Louise was a great hostess and helped us a lot with instructions for finding the property - mostly due to this being our first stop on our first trip to the UK. The weather was hit & miss for the 4 days we visited and Y Cwm was a welcome place to come back to relax after a day of exploring all that Pembrokeshire has to offer.

Beautiful Cottage & Best Location to explore Pembrokeshire!
We loved our stay here. Louise was kind enough to offer us an earlier arrival time. The cottage was wonderful; immaculately clean, peaceful and very homely! It had everything we needed. The information provided was great, very informative of the area with lots of good recommendations for eating out/days out. If you are looking to explore the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline this is the perfect location and accommodation. Highly recommended! Don't miss Barafundle or Bosherston, both are a must see! Louise, thank you for our stay we had such a relaxing few days here and would happily come back.

Absolutely NOTHING negative to report!!!
A delightful cottage! Extremely well equipped, clean, tastefully decorated, all mod cons, spacious and extremely well positioned for exploring the North and South areas of the Pembrokeshire coast line. We visited over New Year so weather was wintry (but dry) and the cottage was lovely and cosy to come back to in the evenings. Despite the short days we made full use of daylight hours and crammed in endless sights and beauty spots, here are a few - a four hour scramble at Strumble Head (breathtaking!), St. Brides Beach with a walk along the coastal path, Little Haven for pub lunch overlooking the beach, amazing guided tour (by Gareth) of Pembroke Castle to see where King Henry Vii was born (very educational for my 10 year old son who is about to focus on the story of the "Princes in the Tower" in history at school), a very orange sunset stroll along Tenby Beach, a romp through Colby Woodland Gardens to beautiful Amroth village and beach, visit to the home of my literary hero Dylan Thomas in the most beautiful village of Laharne with its castle and picturesque setting on River Taf - had a tradional Welsh tea with delicious Welsh cakes (alfresco!) on Dylan's terrace, the imposing but serene St David's Cathedral and Bishop's Palace with late lunch in the lovely Bishop Pub ........all this and even more! There is so much to see in the vicinity, I think one could spend three months there and not see it all! The beauty and history of the area surpassed my expectations and all this made so accessible by the lovely ("haven" in it's own right!) Y Cwm. P.s. I don't work for the Welsh National Tourist Board but perhaps I should apply! I can't wait to see even more of Wales!

A comfortable, relaxing cottage which lives up to its description.
We booked a weekend stay so that we could showcase Pembrokeshire to a friend who was staying with us. The cottage is in a very convenient location for exploring the Pembs coastline , Narbeth , St David's and Milfordhaven . There were some lovely restaurants and gastro pubs nearby , (you do need a car) we were spoilt for choice. The cottage itself was decorated beautifully ,well equipped and spotlessly clean. The cottage had a lovely homely feel and plenty of room to sit outside to enjoy the last of the summer sun. Louise ensured that we had everything we needed and checked with us beforehand to ensure that we had directions to the cottage. Excellent customer service . I would definitely recommend this cottage . A home from home!!! Thank you Louise.

The holiday cottage was clean, spacious, well appointed and comfortable.
We had a wonderful time in Pembrokeshire. The hiking was beautiful and it was made all the more enjoyable knowing that we had a delightful and comfortable place to hang out. The books and maps of the local area were much appreciated. Louise was an attentive hostess; we would recommend this place to stay to friends and family. Maureen and David Vancouver, BC Canada

The cottage is beautiful, extremly clean and fully equipped with everything you need, home from home
We stayed at Easter for a week of walking with two kids and the dog. We arrived to a welcome pack from Louise which most appreciated. The kids got a little Easter gift which thrilled them. We were able to wash walking gear and dog towels every night with detergent provided at the cottage. Cottage is extremely clean ,comfortable, spacious and warm, once we sorted out how to use the heating. We did some fantastic walks out of a book and used the maps left for our use by Louise at the cottage. We had a mixed bag with the weather from hail and rain to lovely sunshine. We managed to get lunch on the beach a couple of days. Louise was most helpful when we had any questions, a quick text and she always replied. There is a great bakery in Johnston the nearby village that did lovely bread and great baguettes for your pack up. We mainly ate in at night after a days walking, we found the only negative of the holiday is some of pubs did not welcome dogs and this was a problem on days with bad weather and the fact we were not allowed to leave our dog unattended at the cottage. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay and would definitely return.

Perfect!!
We recently had the most beautiful stay...arriving on Boxing Day, the cottage had been decorated for Christmas so we were able to continue our festivities in a home from home (and more). A gorgeous little hamper had been left for us too with was a lovely touch. The cottage itself was very spacious, beautifully decorated and accessorised. The beds were very comfortable...the kids loved the bunks! In the kitchen there was everything possibly we could have needed (for me to make a Christmas dinner!). The cottage was easy to find and location wise great; short distance in between Milford Haven and Haverfordwest. We are going through our diaries to plan another trip as it was so perfect. Thank you!

A 5 star hotel experience
The personal touches provided by the owner made our holiday stay outstanding. We have rented many self catering places,  most are pretty standard - clean and functional. Louise pushed the hospitality standard to the next level. The house was extremely well equipped with spotless and seemingly new utensils. We arrived and find that there were some kitchen basics already in place: eggs, milk, snacks, foil, and so on.  In the bathroom there were shampoos and soaps, and washing machine tablets and detergent.  The linen was perfect... fluffy towels and spotless sheets.   Our kids loved the  personalised animal towels and treats left on their beds. The cleanliness was impeccable. The garden beside the stream idyllic. The farm hands cottage a beautiful restoration.  Louise thought about everything we needed before we even thought about it! We loved her cake and bottle of wine too. Louise really is an outstanding host! We enjoyed our stay very much.  Touck and James East

About the host

Host profile image
The owner, Louise has a Health Service background but in 2007 gave birth to triplet boys and since that time has thrown her energy into raising her beautiful family. Louise has lovingly prepared her Pembrokeshire cottage to a very high standard and is really keen to make your stay at Y Cwm as pleasurable as possible!

Why they chose this property

Y Cwm, originally 2 farm workers cottages has been passed down from generation to generation of farming stock and has been in her husband's family for 100 years or more. It was sensitively renovated to retain its vernacular architecture and retain as many of its original features as possible. From the outside it still appears as 2 cottages, but the accommodation from within is one to provide more living space.

The cottage itself was lived in by Louise and her family for 11 years prior to renovating another property to accommodation her large family. It is the family's intention to always retain 'Y Cwm' and pass it down once again to their children.

In the meantime, the cottage can be enjoyed by holiday makers and as it is so central to many of the County's towns, beaches and places of interest, it makes for a perfect place to stay, be it a short and longer term break!

What makes this property unique

Y Cwm benefits from being situated in a very centralised location in the heart of Pembrokeshire. It is a charming little cottage bursting with character and offers many luxury features to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. If you wish to stay in a traditional stone Welsh cottage, this is the property for you!
