About this property
The Ultimate Luss Retreat
Summary:
Set in Luss - the most beautiful part of Scotland, this recently renovated Mill merges a lifetime of history into the modern day. This luxury retreat is perfect for a relaxing getaway from the city stresses, a place to celebrate friendships and catch up as a group or somewhere to recharge after a long day of activities.
The Space:
We can comfortably host 10 people at the Mill and welcome larger groups who want to base themselves right beside Loch Lomond Golf Club or Cameron House. For those guests who want to explore our stunning West Coast, we are perfectly situated close to the main road that provides the gateway to our wonderful Trossachs and beyond.
With the Old Mill conversion, we wanted to create an experience for guests that will make you feel like you have been away for weeks. When we stay, we love hearing the garden stream naturally flow past or the birds tweeting in the overhead trees. If you are brave enough, this stream is deep enough for a cold plunge.
In one of the outhouses, we decided to add a gym as we don't want all daily routines to be disturbed.
Guests will also be spoiled with some fantastic woodland walks. One that starts just at the back of the cottage will take you up to the top of Creachan Hill, which gives a spectacular view over Loch Lomond. Our overhead drone picture in the listing gives a showcase of the view waiting to reward you for your hiking efforts, and the trip back down is always more enjoyable, knowing the hot tub and sauna are waiting for you at the bottom!
For those who like to know the history of properties, The Mill was originally part of the Rossdhu Estate. Within the estate, the Old Mill's role was to store wood for the main Rossdhu House (now used as the clubhouse for Loch Lomond Golf Club.) Since then, it has taken on different roles within the community and, most recently, before the renovation, was used as a garage to store some beautiful classic cars. We hope you enjoy the experience we have created at The Mill, and please feel free to ask any follow-up questions if the area's history is something you enjoy knowing about.
Guest Access:
Our guests have access to the whole property and all luxury amenities while they are staying with us at The Mill.
Please always let us know if you have special requirements or requests, as we always want to help accommodate.
The Neighborhood:
Luss is a charming village located on the western shore of Loch Lomond, and it is one of the most popular tourist destinations within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Luss's location on the shores of Loch Lomond makes it an excellent base for water-based activities, such as boating, kayaking, and fishing. The loch itself is a major attraction and offers breathtaking views and opportunities for outdoor recreation.
It`s well-known for its well-preserved traditional architecture and has been designated as a Conservation Area to protect its historic character. The village features quaint cottages, stone-built houses, and a picturesque parish church. Luss attracts many tourists annually, drawn by its scenic beauty and peaceful atmosphere. The village offers a range of accommodations, shops, cafes, and restaurants to cater to visitors.
The surrounding area of Luss provides various walking and hiking trails suitable for all ability levels. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls along the loch or more challenging hikes up nearby hills for stunning panoramic views.
Getting Around:
As we are a rural setting, public transport is pretty limited. We'd advise having your own vehicle in order to get around easily.
The nearest train station is in Balloch, from there you could take a taxi.
For those with cars, the Old Mill is based just off the main A82 road. This road will take you past Inverbeg and onto Tarbet, where the road splits and can take you all along the West Coast. You will never see roadside views like this.
If you want to travel in style, we can get discounted rates on boats on the loch, the best way to explore the islands and other areas such as Ben Lomond.
Other Things to Note:
We can arrange rental of a high chair and a travel cot if needed during your stay
Please note, check in is not available on the 25th of December and the 1st of January.
For insurance purposes, the lead booker must be over 25. ID verification is required on all bookings.
Interaction with Guests:
We like to give guests space to enjoy their time in the property, however we are available to help with any questions or recommendations.
