About this property
Harbour View Capel Le Ferne
Harbour View Capel Le Ferne
Ideal location with stunning views over the ocean
If spectacular views are what you are after then Harbour View could be your perfect stay. The two bed, recently refurbished single storey property enjoys a stunning location right at the top of the cliffs overlooking the English Channel.
Inside the property has 2 nicely furnished double bedrooms, bathroom with bath and shower over and a well equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge freezer and washing machine. At the back of the house is a light and airy living space with a cosy seating area and dining table for 4 people. There is free WiFi and a large flat screen chrome cast TV. The room enjoys large windows looking out to sea and the countryside. The rear doors open onto a small cliff top garden so you are just a step away from breathing in that refreshing sea air. Please be aware that whilst the property is not directly on the cliff edge, there is a steep drop at the end of the garden with only a low open fence. For this reason, children and animals must be supervised at all times.
There is ample parking space for 2 vehicles on site. The property is approached via a narrow lane.
It is a perfect vantage point from which to watch the events that take place every year around the harbour including the fireworks, the air show, boat races and more. Apart from the stunning views, the property is situated on the edge of Capel Le Ferne with quick and easy access to both Folkestone and Dover and all they have to offer. Beaches, cafes, bars and restaurants galore.
For anyone interested in World War 2 history, Harbour View is ideally situated and has an interesting history of its own. The building was originally a spotting tower used to spot and send warning signals about approaching Luftwaffe aircraft. When you see the position of the property right at the top of the cliffs you can see why!
Capel-le-Ferne itself was home to RAF Capel-le-Ferne, an RAF station that predominantly served as a forward base for supporting RAF Fighter Command, responsible for defending the skies over Southeast England from German air attacks. The station housed several squadrons of fighters, including iconic aircraft such as the Supermarine Spitfire and the Hawker Hurricane. Today, you can explore the area and find remnants of the airfield's infrastructure, such as old bunkers, concrete foundations, and runway remnants.
In the village you will find the Battle of Britain Memorial. This features a unique clifftop memorial, including the Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall, which bears the names of the aircrew who participated in the Battle of Britain. The site also includes a visitor center, a replica Hurricane aircraft, and a stunning bronze statue of a fighter pilot.
