Arriving along quiet country lanes, having to wait for the sheep to move out of the way and spotting raptors flying above you, The Calf Pens greets you with its calming and peaceful surroundings. Views of the surrounding farmland spread for miles around you. You may spot the resident donkeys as you park before making your way up into the garden.
Built into the shape of the land, The Calf Pens has been wonderfully restored using parts of its heritage. Floor to ceiling windows and doors look out to the garden from the open plan living area which is split across three levels. The stone steps used between each level were originally the steps up to the calf pens at the rear of the building. You will also notice the wooden beams above and the large wooden doors which have been reused. With high ceilings and something interesting catching your eye at every turn this is a wonderfully comfortable space. The main sitting area gathers around the masonry surround of the wood burning stove, up one level to the kitchen/diner and down one level to the TV area. There is a bedroom at either end of this space giving guests their own privacy and a family shower room. From the statement lilac sink in the twin bedroom to the freestanding kitchen units and the quirky pops of colour throughout this is a stylishly eclectic home from home.
The cottage garden suits all seasons. Surrounding you with colour in Spring and Summer with grape vines twining around the walls and lavender filling the air with its scent. In Winter you can bundle up with blankets under the tin roof listening to the rain before warming in front of the fire. To the side of the cottage is off road parking for 3 cars and walking routes including the Gloucestershire Way lead from the farm.
