About this property

Host & Stay | George House

Summary:
Nestled in the seaside town of Whitby on the Yorkshire coast, George House is a spacious holiday home sleeping up to eight guests. The perfect base for families and groups of friends to enjoy a staycation in North Yorkshire, you’ll have full access to the property during your stay which also includes free WiFi, a back yard with outdoor furniture and stunning views across Whitby from the top floor.

The Space:
George House has a bright and welcoming living room. With three sofas, two armchairs and a flat screen TV, it’s a great place to unwind with your loved ones after a busy day exploring Whitby and the surrounding area.

Perfectly combining modern and traditional, there is a fully equipped kitchen with an abundance of appliances and cookware so you can prepare meals easily during your stay. Sharing this space is the dining area which includes a square table and stools to seat all guests.

The property has four bedrooms. There are three double bedrooms - one on the first floor and two on the second - while the fourth bedroom, situated on the first floor, features a super-king size bed. Each bed has plush bedding and premium bed linens to ensure you have a great night’s sleep. Please note that one of the beds is zip & link which can be split into two singles upon request.

There is a sofa bed in the front first floor bedroom which converts into a single bed, and, when made up, this would increase the occupancy of George House to nine. There is also a fold-out single bed with a deep sprung mattress on the second floor that can be put up in the Endeavour Room and, when this is made up, the occupancy could be increased to ten.

There are two family bathrooms at George House. One the ground floor you’ll find a shower room, and the first floor bathroom includes a bathtub with overhead shower. Both spaces are complete with WC’s and wash basins.

Outside you’ll find an enclosed backyard with seating where you can enjoy some fresh sea air.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to George House are accessed via a key safe box, and full details will be provided prior to your stay.

Free on-street parking is available nearby on a first come, first served basis. No permit is required, and full details will be provided prior to your arrival.

A maximum of two well-behaved dogs are welcome to stay at George House per reservation. Please enquire about the possibility of additional dogs staying at the property.

Please note that CCTV is installed at the front and rear of George House for the purposes of guest security.

The Neighborhood:
George House is located near the harbour in Whitby and you’ll find restaurants, shops and pubs less than a 10-minute walk away.

The house is located on the West side of Whitby. You’ll be able to revel in the nostalgic seaside charm - head to the arcades or explore the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts.

Venture over the swing bridge and you’ll reach the East bank. This side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.

Getting Around:
You’ll find restaurants, pubs and shops just in a short walk from George House.

Whitby train station is nearby so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.

There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

Interaction with Guests:
We’re always available for our guests, so do not hesitate to get in touch.

Ideal for a girls trip. Party of 7 ladies stayed in this house, plenty of room to accommodate us all. House is in a great central area, however if walking it is up a hill no good for anyone with walking difficulties. Any queries or questions Dale (owner) is prompt to reply. Would stay in this property again. Thankyou
