We just love St Marychurch which is a conservation area with the surrounding area of outstanding natural beauty. We have permission to offer this delightful cosy annexe because we believe people will love and respect what is on offer. We hope you will join us in warmth for the Castle Courtyard at Cary Castle development project. By booking this accommodation you are assisting with the restoration and development of the Cary Castle site. We would like to be in touch in the future to offer special deals to returning guests and invite you to be a part of the future vision. We believe there is a touch of magic here, come and stay and let us know if you feel it too....
Why they chose this property
St Marychurch is one of the oldest settlements in South Devon. St Mary's church is a recognised place of worship dating back to Saxon times. A little further away are Kent's Caverns with evidence of the earliest of human settlements. The beauty of the bay, Babbacombe Downs, the beaches, attractions such as the Cliff Top Railway, Anstey's Cove, Hope's Nose, Meadfoot and the coastal path all contribute toward creating this magical setting akin to (when fully restored) a fairy tale, wedding cake style castle estate...
All in all, its a little bit quirky and unique. It is good to come with an open mind, keen to explore. There is intriguing history, including smuggling tunnels linked to the Castle Courtyard at Cary Castle for which the wider locality was renown. People say that St Marychurch has a genuine vibe of it's own, sometimes reminiscent of a Harry Potter setting, sometimes reflecting a continental feel of Provincial France and always touched by the beauty of the churches adding depth of spirit with the tolling of their bells. There is only one way to experience this sense of heritage - come and see and feel it for yourself!
